Your opponent can't search their deck for a card in the second sentence, since the first sentence restricts them from doing exactly that. It probably needs to be random (or top, or bottom - anything that doesn't require a search), or some other cost.

On a broader scale, we've moved away from restricting search and draw to punishing search and draw. Restrict is mostly about stopping Doms and/or Enhancements from being played right now.

A cool idea I've seen in another game for limiting searches without completely stopping them is doing something like:
When an opponent uses an ability to search their deck, they instead look at the top X cards of their deck instead.

I'm not sure I worded that correctly, as I'm not sure if it would only replace the search part (while keeping the take or discard or whatever the search is allowing you to do). I'm also not using X as the variable in Redemption, but just that I don't know the appropriate number of cards so I used a variable, but it could easily be 10 or something. Also while you could do a similar thing with the discard pile (or a random number of cards from the Reserve) I think it's often better to not hit all the piles with a single card.
If you are reading this signature, thank a physicist.
