Evil Fortress

If no player has played the New Jerusalem dominant yet, protect all lost souls from rescue by New Jerusalem.

"And when the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison, and will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore."  Revelation 20:7-8

I like it. I'd rather it say "No player may rescue a soul with New Jerusalem."

Would still need an erratta to work

"Protect all lost souls from rescue by New Jerusalem"

Changed the wording as needed.  And this is biblical too.  In Revelation the New Jerusalem is not revealed until this huge evil army is destroyed.

Maybe you should also include "While a NT evil character is in territory" too then, seems to fit the verse better.

Well, I'm kind of using the fortress to represent not only the enemy encampment but its contents at the same time.  For example, most of us probably don't think of Headquarters at Riblah being empty just because there are no visible Babylonians in play at that time.  Adding greater requirements would make it harder to use effectively, which I don't think is a good thing.

Then it becomes almost staple, It's essentially a free block if you can get it out before your opponents gets SoG / NJ

If they can discard it they have nothing to worry about.  But it also stops YOU from playing your New Jerusalem.  It makes people, I hope, reconsider having New Jerusalem in their decks.  And if it makes them play NJ before they would have liked to (like before they get GOYS out), then I consider that a good thing too.  I'm not sure I'd call it a "free block".  It simply makes them have to make a rescue attempt that they were hoping they didn't have to.  But yes, it could take them one extra turn to win the game.

There would be some strong opinions if this card was made...

drop the last statement. fortresses' effects don't continue after they're discarded.

You realize that downing is just a statement of "I disagree", right? So you will call a mod on someone because they disagreed with statements? Upping and Downing is the best anti-spam mechanism we have here. Rather than posting to say "I don't like it." or "I disagree" or "Cool" or "I agree" you can just up and down a post. It's much better.

It has not. Most people either already know about that and do it, know and don't care, don't know and don't care, or are Sauce.

But downing (-1) something where I made a suggested change and wrote a one word "Done"?  Someone's disagreeing that I did the suggested changes?  I don't think so.  Usually I don't care about these things, but that one seemed a little malicious.

someone doesn't like the fact that you made a one word post. which is kinda lame, considering people post "fixed" all the time.

Downing is malicious? What? Was the post your refering to worthy of downing? Probably not. But just because it got downed does not mean that someone has a vandetta against your posts. I know you have been downed alot (in that CBN thread), but I mean, seriously, there's nothing personal with downing if you do it correctly. People just are trying to communicate their pleasure or displeasure without spamming.

Wraith is probably right about the one word post. That's about the only criticism you can make of the post (since it's only one word after all ;) )

I think the problem a lot of people are having with the +1/-1 is that it's mainly only the -1 that is being used. +1 seems to only be given to troll posts, and it can become discouraging to those users who are routinely -1'd and rarely +1'd for seemingly no reason.

As for the card, I like it. I don't think it would become a staple, and honestly I'd like to see it be given a secondary use as well. Maybe something to boost beasts, seeing as it pertains heavily to Revelation and HaShatan. Perhaps add the clause "Protect your Beasts in battle from good dominants, unless an angel is in battle." or something similar to that?

That is a good point, ArchAngel. I think I am going to begin to try to either one up or one down every post in the forums I read so that people can see the good and bad activity they do.

That being said, I don't like the card, and fail to see a reason to include it in any deck as it is currently written.

Then I suggest that someone create a "forum etiquette/rules" type of thread so those of us unaccustomed to such things don't get upset.  I never read anything in these forums that said one word posts are discouraged or annoying.  Several other players make one word posts all the time.  Most of them do not have a -1 beside them though, which is was made me begin to wonder.  It seems to me that for a game like Redemption, a "-1" option is too discouraging to have real value.  What's wrong with having +1 for agreement and just leave it alone if you don't?

If a post is spam, and people think it is spam, then the -1 is supposed to be discouraging...not to make the spammer feel bad, but to make him realize that posting spam is not agreeable to most people. Your post was not spam, so whoever used the -1 did so for a different reason (presumably). So don't feel bad about it.

FWIW, I've had plenty of posts get a -1 for "no reason" but I just realize that someone out there didn't agree with my line of thinking, or just does it for giggles and grins. Either way, I don't take it personally.
