Title: Gathered
Post by: jesse on May 25, 2016, 09:25:15 AM
Gathered
Green Covenant

Protect all Heroes from underdeck and withdraw abilities. Release captured Heroes and return your Heroes in set aside to territory. If played in battle, band to a Hero of each opponent.

"Therefore say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "I will gather you from the peoples and assemble you out of the countries among which you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel."' - Ezekiel 11:17

So if this is active all the time, are your heroes also protected from capture and set aside?

Good question- my intention was just to return already-captured heroes with that ability. I'm not sure how to word it best though!

We might word it like this:

Release captured Heroes. Return set-aside Heroes to territory.

Protecting Heroes from shuffle outright is pretty much taboo in our game thanks to A New Beginning. You could protect them from shuffle by an opponent however.

Thanks, Gabe! I didn't think about a new beginning  so I will change that  as you suggested – my  main intention was to have an anti-scattered card, fitting with the verse.

I really like this, it's a very cool concept. I think the strength is pretty balanced too considering the power of cards outside of it and all potential counters. I like the protection from shuffle against Grapes, especially with TSC now making Grapes potentially 2x.

Cool card!

I would consider changing it to "Return your set aside Heroes" so its not used as a defensive counter to cards like Provisions/Pentecost. Those cards do need counters, but I would rather them be evil or neutral.

I love the idea that it's the counter to the ever annoying scattered play. I don't think it's overpowered considering all of the recent enhancement discarding cards from CoW. I would just add "except new beginning" in the ability or identifier.

Updated - thanks for the feedback!

To make it more versatile, what about adding:

"If played in battle, band to a Hero of each opponent."

I like it. This is my favorite kind of new card idea: simple, versatile, but not overwhelming.

This is almost the exact opposite of scattered. I Love it.

I feel like this ability loses its elegance by having the ANB clause in there. Also,Vega brings up a good point that you could have this active, play Grapes to discard an EC (and shuffle other ECs) while protecting your own Hero from shuffle. I think it might be better off just going without the shuffle protection.

What about this:

Protect all Heroes from underdeck and withdraw abilities. Release captured Heroes and return your Heroes in set aside to territory. If played in battle, band to a Hero of each opponent.

Thank you- I agree, that's much better. With the verse, being an anti-scattered card was the main intent anyway. I'll update it
