Title: Behemoth
Post by: Jmbeers on August 26, 2011, 01:35:58 AM
Name: Behemoth
Type: Character, beast (11/11)
Brigade: Good Blue / Evil Gold
Verse: JOB 40:15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

Sa: May band to any Genesis character but must be banded to enter battle. Both Behemoth and banded character are immune to other Genesis characters. Behemoth may not play enhancements. Remove from game after battle if Noah or his Sons were in the battle.

(I know the ability is fairly long)

This is new and exciting.

Band to a Genesis character, Otherwise withdraw from battle. Immune to Genesis characters. Prevent enhancements played on Behemoth. Remove from game after battle if Noah or his Sons were in battle.

I think thats a better way to phrase his ability. Not quite identical to what you had, but it flows better and is shorter.

Prevent enhancements played on Behemoth.
I think "Behemoth is restricted from playing enhancements" is closer. However, if it were me, I think I'd just make a whole new type of brigadeless animal type card.

Really like the idea, but this particular ability is not powerful enough to be used much, IMO.

It's not a restrict because the ability does not target a player.

Well, as far as I know, there is no ability that does what the OP is trying to do. "You are restricted from playing enhancements on Behemoth." Maybe that works.

I know the card wouldn't see alot of playing time, I just thought it was a cool idea.

I had it so Behemoth couldn't play enhancements so that it wouldn't be able to play a Bible Icon in a block, or a Skull Icon in a rescue attempt. The ability would limit you to playing enhancements on the banded character keeping the appropriate Icon on it's side of battle.

I toyed with making it immune to OT characters except Giants and Giant Slayers, or Immune to characters with reference from the Torah (First 5 books of the Bible)

In the end I went with the weakest to avoid being Op but if one of the other two options sounds better I can edit the Sa.

And to shorten the ability I could always drop the "remove from game" clause, any opinions?

Love the idea, not very excited about the actual SA.

So help it out.

It really is just a random idea, fix it up a little.

Not really relevant to the original idea but it's another idea:

Behemoth
Character, Beast 11/11
Brigade: Good Blue/Evil Gold
Verse: Job 40:15
Negate and discard and an old testament artifact. Negate special abilities on enhancements. May band to a Genesis character. Cannot be negated.

Might be a little OP'd but seeing what characters are capable of it could be okay and the artifact part was to try to get it to not be affected by Household idols which didn't really work because household idols makes it so he can't enter battle. Thoughts?

The problem araises when behemoth can ply good ec's as an evil character

Mor or less I just really like the idea of a nutural (good/evil) character that has some bonus ability but may not play ec's

There could be others like (war horse) may band to a king (good or evil)

It would be a new way to make beasts actually see some playing time

Good Blue/Evil Gold
11/11
SA: I don't know...something.
Identifiers: May be added to battle. Withdraw this character from battle if a character is unopposed by a human. Cannot play enhancements.

Going along with Bubble Boy's idea, here's a new class of character (icon is a placeholder, I couldn't find anything better, and I'm not enough of an artist to make one from scratch, lol):

I combined all the various ideas for the SA (and added something of my own) and came up with the SA on the card, which is also below in case it's hard to read (I couldn't find a really good color for the text in front of that pic):

Enhancements cannot be played on Behemoth. Band to a Genesis character or withdraw Behemoth from battle. Immune to Genesis characters. Cannot be ignored.

Obviously, some of what you were going for would be covered in the special rules for animal characters (to both save room on the card and to give animals something to make them unique).

I really like the idea of having it's own icon because you could remove the part in the ability saying (character may not play EC's) and the character is actually neutral, Giving you more room to toy with abilities.

As part of the identifier with the class it could be ruled that if not banded into battle must withdraw. Much like the territory class enhancements, it dosen't say how to play it on the card but everyone knows how to because of the symbol.

Had a similar idea a couple years ago. Came up with some pretty cool animal cards along with cards that relate to them.
