Army of Demons - 2/4 Orange Curse
At any time during your preparation phase, you may exchange a panic demon in your territory with another panic demon in your deck or discard pile. If you exchange from the discard pile, discard this card after the current phase.
This is designed to fix the one problem I have with panic demons... brigade mismatches with enhancements. It does not speed them up as it's an exchange, but it gives you a chance to grab the appropriate color of panic demon to play an enhancement.
I don't have my card templates on my laptop, so art will come later for this.
Refined version as discussed below:

I love it! Probably could use a different name, but it's a very good card for a niche strategy that could use more love.
-
Yeah, the name came after the idea. I'm open to suggestions.
-
maybe even broaden it to generic demons instead of panic demons
-
If I was going to do that, it'd say something like:
At any time during your preparation phase, you may exchange your generic demon with another generic demon of another brigade from deck or discard. If you exchanged *rest is the same*.

I like this wording, actually. I was a bit hesitant about the idea of just exchanging for generics (Wandering Spirit, huzzah), but if you have to do it in Prep phase, that makes it much more strategic and leaves it open to explosion on your opponent's turn.
Personally, I like it. Even the recur isn't terribly OP, and in T2 you'd only get 3 recurs out of it when other themes can do more already (yes, SSS work too but only on Orange).
Good idea :)

I don't understand how the "At any time during your preparation phase" makes a difference in 99% of cases, except for making it unusable in battle. Personally, I would word it like this:
"Exchange your generic demon with a generic demon of another brigade in deck or discard. If you exchange to discard, discard this card. Cannot be negated."
Slicker wording, and it lets you actually use it as an enhancement, which could be very strategic. And the CBN is just to prevent annoying shifts and un-searches in case of in-battle after-the-fact negation, as well as to prevent DoN. It also might be interesting to say, "If you exchange for an orange demon, discard this card," to make it further benefit Panic Demons in particular. :2cents:

I wanted to word it so you could use it multiple times in one go.

I wanted to word it so you could use it multiple times in one go.
Oh, that makes sense. I'm not sure if the current wording allows for that though.
-
How about this?
At any time, exchange your generic demon with another generic demon of another brigade from deck or discard. If used during the battle phase, only one demon may be exchanged. If you exchanged from the discard pile, discard this card after the current phase.
-
I was under the impression that "at any time" had an inherent one use limit. Not sure about that though. If I'm wrong, then I love that wording.
-
I pulled "at any time" from Gates of Hell, which can indeed be triggered multiple times in one go:
"At any time, you may discard the bottom card of deck...."
Also, any other ideas for a name / verse? I definitely want it to be orange (since its demon related) and 2/4 (to mirror Panic Demons... the main reason it exists).
*Edit*
Also, I limited the exchange in battle to one so you could not constantly exchange demons, causing all of their abilities to trigger endlessly. Triggering an extra demons ability once shouldn't be too powerful, though it could lead to some amazing bands.
-
Matthew 12:43? Worse than the First already uses that story, but it's the best one I can find that fits the ability.
-
Oooh, that works pretty well.
Looking further, Wandering Spirit uses the Luke version of that exact reference. Granted, that's pretty common to see duplicate references.

Original post updated.

Cool idea, good art as usual.
-
wait you only have ONE problem with Panic Demons? *Jokes!*
-
They have potential, and are a really fun defense concept. Brigade mismatch is hands down the biggest problem I've run into with them.
