This would stop AUtO, AwSN, Ahimilek, King Amazing, Sam's search, Banding, pretty much everything about a Sam deck.  The question is this, is it OP?  I'm kinda worried it might be...  The main advantage is that it would help promote the battle phase, by forcing the opponent to rely on his enhancements rather than just he heroes.

Yes, it is OP because it says "Protect humans."  That includes all human evil characters, meaning protection from hero SA all the time.  If you want to promote the battle phase like you said, it might have to exclude human EC.  Otherwise, battles will just go the other way (to unstoppable D).

Otherwise, interesting concept.  Definitely wouldn't make it CB-anything, but an interesting concept.

That's on purpose, I want it to protect Human EC's from Ahimilek and Amazing.

Being  curse I think that it's balanced enough in my opinion, they are soooo easy to get rid of.

There are already 4 Artifacts that stop Sam decks. Adding a 5th one won't do anything.

Is this game really that much in a mess when the best counters we can come up with are 'Protect/Restrict/Negate/Poop on X'?

HHI, Gold Calf, Confusion of Mind, and CwD right?  Well, 3 only negate characters, a lot Sam characters are CBN, this idea stops them a different way by using protection.  In order to stop all of Sam's strats you need to have HHI, CwD, and Naz out at the same time, but this card could feasibly stop all of them at once.

I know it's just one more of a plethora of counters but this one would counter Sam more effectively than any other method we currently posses.  Now I'm not saying that it's the best counter on the planet, but it would probably help.  This also stops Phil/Bart and the Garden girls from banding too.  I personally think a counter like this could really work.

So the question is this, is shutting down the meta a good thing or a bad thing?  Personally I think the meta could use a bit of shaking up.

Its good if it balances the meta, as in a deck can still be decently playable but not completely crippled through its hard counters. Its a good card. I love it, deals with a lot of common things found in the meta. I just personally would love to see more creative development around these counters than just slapping protect/restrict/negate X on a card and calling it done. It seems that has all the last few sets have entirely been, and I believe there to be far more potential in designing creative counters than that.
