A LOT Job cards
« on: November 29, 2016, 01:06:13 PM »

I made a few Job cards, and i'll be adding a few more eventually. Feedback is welcome!

Three more for your critiquing!
I think some might be too OP, but that's up for you to decide!

Four enhancements!

Back with more! XD
There are a lot more this time (7!).
All of them are reprints of Job cards
that are currently in the game
but are pretty trash.

I like the decrease/toss mechanism you've got going. I can see some pretty good synergy between Job and Dust/Ashes! Put peace on Job, toss an enhancement. decrease opponent 2x, decrease Job- he has been harmed!! But it's ok, Dust and Ashes can do some things, like increase him 3/3! So he gains some more numbers for another toss battle. Solid!

I like the other cards too, I don't really know how I would improve them actually. So good job!  8)

Oh and hard core Job scraping off his boils eww lol

Just with the wording on Behemoth, Seeing as he's an evil character, aka a blocker, he himself cannot be blocked. Maybe rewording it to "Withdraw all human heroes", "You may choose an angel to rescue", etc- or simply, "cannot be attacked by humans" :)

I do think that Leviathan being able to discard a site or fortress each upkeep is a little too OP. Maybe make it underdeck instead of discard?

I like the concept though, with all the Job animals being 12/12 Crimson animals and 7/0 blue enhancements. I definitely think ramping up the power of the "when used by Job" portion of the animals is justified, as you can only get the benefits by playing it on one specific hero.

Great job all round I think!

(Job scraping off his boils is still ultra hardcore)  8) Toodles!

That has got to be the ugliest unicorn I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of unicorns in my time!

Hey now! what did that unicorn ever do to you? :-[

The reason why i chose that is because that is what scholars of the bible and of marco polo's journals think the unicorn might have looked like. it is a Elasmotherium sibiricum or a "siberian unicorn".

Just with the wording on Behemoth, Seeing as he's an evil character, aka a blocker, he himself cannot be blocked. Maybe rewording it to "Withdraw all human heroes", "You may choose an angel to rescue", etc- or simply, "cannot be attacked by humans" :)

ok, new special ability on Behemoth: "Withdraw all opposing humans. Opponent may present a non human character instead. If used by Job, you may negate an evil card to discard two random cards in opponent's hand and play an enhancement."

Also, i agree with your thoughts on Leviathan. He was the main one i thought might be to OP.

On behemoth I would put the negate at the top so it can be used by job during special initiative and as a battle winner similarly to faith of Abel

Great ideas. For leviathan I would have his first ability to be in play or set aside area. Mostly because of the 2 "ship/boat" forts that play to set aside and leviathan has biblical ties with ships. Just look at the reference for the old card. Also make him cbn. Mostly cause I want to toss leviathan via coliseum. All the animals here could be cbn for that matter. Animal Tossing.... I can dream right? Lol good job

Hey, sorry to steal your limelight Isaac, but I made a Job card of my own. Here it is, I hope you like it! If you want to take my idea and make it your own to fit the theme you've got going, feel free! After all, this is your thread.  8)

EDIT: I had to remove my card from this post as the link was showing the wrong picture for some reason

Haha, no problem! I like it! I don't think the second ability is the best way to go, because there is no reason to do that. Why no just go in with Job? Maybe it's ability could be "During your upkeep or discard phase, you may banish this card to search deck or discard pile for Job or draw two. When blocked in battle, you may banish this card to discard a random card from opponent's hand or an evil card from his territory to add Job to battle. cannot be negated." this way, you are doing something other than just adding him to battle.

Yeah, actually that's a good point lol. I don't know what I was thinking haha. That new ability is exceptionally long, but I like where you're taking it. How about this ability:

ID: 'X= # of good Job cards in play and discard pile'

"At any time, you may banish this card. If you do, search deck or discard pile for Job, or draw X (limit 4). If in battle, add Job to the battle to discard 2 random cards from opponent's hand instead. Cannot be negated."

Actually, that's a good question.

From Job 1:4-5 (NIV)

'His sons used to hold feasts in their homes on their birthdays, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would make arrangements for them to be purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular custom.'

There are at least 2 ways that I can see this could be interpreted as. Either Job made sacrifices for them because of their behaviour, or Job made sacrifices for them because of the way he thought that they might have thought. It's a good thing to point out,and it would be nice to know other people's thoughts on that. Thanks Pol  :)

[[[ EDIT ]]]

In light of this, I thought I'd also make an evil character alternative!

Job's Children 7/3 Brown Territory Class EC

"At any time, you may banish this card to search deck or discard pile for Job, search deck for a Job card, or draw 2. Cannot be negated while a demon is in battle."

very nice i like a mighty wind and fire from the heavens.

Yes, fire from the heavens is brutal!  I love it  :)

I love these new enhancements all up. At first I was a little underwhelmed by Sabean attack, but after reading over a few times and sorting out stuff in my brain, it's a actually a pretty cool and biblically thematic card. The way I have interpreted it as working upon reflection is essentially this:

Practically there are two scenarios here:
Either 1 hero is in battle or there is more than 1 hero in battle. Obviously, at least 1 of those heroes needs to be a human.

a) The way the last part of the ability is worded, "Opponent may withdraw 1", leads me to believe that if their is only one human hero in battle, opponent may discard it or withdraw it, so knowing the importance of having heroes to rescue with, it's essentially a "withdraw opponent's hero" in that situation.

b)With more than 1 hero in battle, it essentially works as: "Opponent may withdraw 1 human hero. Discard all human heroes in battle."

Is this how you intend it to work? If not, how would it work?

*******************************************
And just some things on 3 of the older cards:

1. Question: With Job's Wife, does she do the decrease as X/X or 0/X?

2. Thought: I think it would be appropriate for Leviathan to be Cannot be negated. That way, if Job uses him as an enhancement while coliseum is up, he can use his toss ability to maximum effect, inflicting 14 damage on the opponent. Even though biblically, it was practically impossible for a man to kill the leviathan, tossing Leviathan I think is symbolic of his insane strength, as you wouldn't want the Leviathan to come charging at you in anger!

3. Suggestion: Just being a bit nit-picky here, but I think a clearer way of wording the last part of Job's Friends' ability would be something like this: "After each block, decrease this card by 1/2." That way it is clear when the decrease happens, and for formalities sake I would put 'decrease this card' in place of 'decrease him', as it's a group of 'hims', not just one him. This would have Job's Friends  read like this:

"Withdraw all but 1 hero in battle. Negate banding and enhancements. After each block, decrease this card by 1/2."

The ability hasn't changed, it's just a little cleaner. Maybe you could even add the identifier 'Generic Male'?  8)

2. I meant to have X/X, thank you for pointing that out
3.I know that a lot of people want it to be CBN, for the colesium toss, but i'm just not completely sold on that idea. i was thinking more of a peace deck with him when i designed him.
4. Thanks for pointing that out, that wording is a little confusing. And i don't think there is any reason not to add that identifier, except that they would then get discarded by a mighty wind. So, consider it done.

Yes, that was actually my first thought about Job when I saw the ability, to place peace on him and toss away to your heart's content.

One possible way around having to toss Job's Friends via a mighty wind would be to make a mighty wind's ability optional, by saying something like this:

"You may negate and discard a fortress or site in play or set aside. If you do, discard all generic humans in play." However, that changes the effect of the card a little, and I don't know how you would feel about changing two words to avoid discarding just one card. Although, the way it is worded at the moment means that if there are valid fortresses or sites for targeting, you must discard one of them- even if yours is the only one. Then, you must discard all generic humans in play, including yours. If there isn't a valid site or fortress to target, then it just adds numbers.

Weighing up with my suggestion, it would mean that if there is a fortress or site in play or setaside, you can choose whether or not to negate/discard it. However, if there is no target to nuke or you choose not to do that, you can't kill off the generic human dudes. If you choose not to negate and discard, yet again this just adds numbers. I think this version has some merit, as the two parts must happen together or not at all, but Satan couldn't do anything to Job without God's permission, so in a similar way, the card's abilities will only work if you give it permission to.

Another thing I just thought of was doing this with the card instead:

A Mighty Wind 1/5 Brown/Orange TC enhancement

"Place in territory. While in battle, generic humans gain 1/5. At anytime, you may negate and discard a fortress or site in play or set aside. If you do, discard all generic humans in play. Cannot be prevented by a hero."

Anyway, my mumble rumble is over, so peace, Christmas cheer and plenty of fibre and aquatic hydration to you all. Toodles! :B
