A Call for a Librarian

As awesome as a card with that title would be if I found a verse for it, this isn't a card thread XD

In a recent thread, people were asking why I stopped cataloging cards when RC came out. The answer is: with the increase in card volume, I don't have time. So I am looking for a volunteer to compile a gallery like the one requested. I'll sticky the thread and delete any posts on it that aren't gallery posts, and that will free up some room as I can unsticky the 2 galleries up there once they're condensed. The only caveat is that I want serious cards only; no Spartans, no Little Ponies, no RLK. The Cactus card creation team has been increasingly paying attention to this board, and it would be nice to have potential ideas in one place for them to browse.

It seems that Somekittens was already volunteering on the other thread, so he's got first crack at it if he wants it, but feel free to post here if you're interested in taking on the job should he decline.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

I'll take it!  Though I would like to have my mod powers extended to this board, as it would make the job much easier.

I can't make people mods, you'll have to ask Prof U for that one.

As long as you create the thread, and lock it, then mod powers shouldn't make any difference.  You just unlock it whenever you want to add more posts of cards, then lock it again when you're done.

I can't make people mods, you'll have to ask Prof U for that one.
Actually, I don't think I can do that either.  I think that would be Schaef's department :)

Turns out Schaef can't do it either, it's Rob's department. But wait! Rob doesn't have that ability either! Looks like it's time to ask Jesus.

Jesus, can SomeKittens be a mod?

I think it's kind of ridiculous that a locked thread has been unlocked by a mod a posted in 3 times now. Talk about silencing the community.

#1 - I posted on that thread because I felt like there was an unresolved issue there.  However, it has since been resolved by this thread, so that thread is no longer necessary.

#2 - I think it's kind of ridiculous that a forum member who has been here as long as yourself and has been as controversial as yourself (at times) would accuse anyone of silencing the community :)

#3 - I also think it's kind of ridiculous that you would take a thread that is solely here to empower the community by opening up the opportunity for someone to be in charge of the archiving of these creative community driven ideas, and turn it into a chance for you to criticize people for silencing the community.

Regardless of who it's coming from, Alex does make a severe accusation that I think needs to be looked at.

The accusation may be severe, but that doesn't mean that it is anywhere near valid.  As I already pointed out, this thread is here to allow further discussion on the archiving topic, and to enable even greater community input.

Before I go post all over the place, here's my plan:
There'll be three threads, one for entries, one for funny cards, and one for serious cards.  The latter two will be sorted by brigade and locked.  Only I (or a mod) will add/modify those.  The "entry" thread will be open, and anyone can post in it.  If an entry has +3 or more, it is archived in the appropriate thread.  I'd rather have the community choose rather than "SomeKittens chooses which cards are special enough."

Thoughts?

Is Pol's decision that the thread had run it's course not good enough for you to agree? If you don't want to trust his judgement, I question why he is a mod at all.

If you meant "vocalling encouraging others to find the answer through less standard practices than normal board members might normally choose to use" by controversial, then yes, I am fairly controversial. But I'm not really sure that's even true.

Would you like me to start a new thread about it that brings more people into it? This is actually probably a more discrete method of questioning the choices made by mods than posting a topic such as "Are Mods overstepping their bounds? A discussion about the power of lock-editing and it's effects on the voice of the community".

I would use Turabian normally (I like it's functioning better) but yeah, I would probably need to conduct thorough research.
