So yeah... it's speed. Nothing to explain there. Let me explain a few differences with most speed decks.

1. I have the anti-B, which is a typical no no in redemption multi. I put it in because I wanted to win FIRST. Yeah, it might help someone else, but if it can help me get souls, then It's in there.

2. No Lydia. I figured that I'd get enough cards to be able to use my white enhancements on Maharai. It ended up working, and I put in first fruits in it's place.

3. Rain becomes dust. Most people didn't use it (I was the only one in multi-player who had it in my deck). It ended up helping me a TON, to stop my opponent's from doing the exact same thing I was trying to do.

Other than that, it's generic. I was able to get souls fast and beat my opponent's, normally by only 1 turn.

As a national chamption, I support Reyzen deck pouches and sleeves. His black protectors are the only thing I use for my type I decks. Thanks Roy!

You've made a pretty clean cut, well constructed, old school speed deck. I like it, but it lacks any pizazz or excitement. Props on winning, I know it is no easy feat to accomplish at the National level. And you faced some pretty darn right awesome competition in Gabe, Shride, and a few others that I've never had to face during my time. The only thing I see wrong with the deck is that you rely on banding way too much. How did you not have any problems using those banding heroes in type 1 multi (half of your heroes band by the way just an observation) I'll never know. Again props to ya baby!

lol this deck would eat it in Ohio.  we have way to much defense in our decks for this to do anything and since proff underwood plays a lot of fbtn, I get in a habit of playing with the CBP LS.  Not sure what the Anti -B LS is.  I have never heard of a LS called that before.  Four battle winners? (and that is counting Abes servant to Ur?) plus a captain band?  wow,  I just dont see how this deck won.

Well, I DO see how this deck won, but aside from the captain band, I dont see how it won. lol

Anti-burial. And I agree, how on earth could people not stop this? This deck winning shows how horrible type 1 multi can be. Under no circumstances should this deck win in a multiplayer setting. I guess CA doesn't like defense...at all. And it was guided by a skilled player.

When there's only 11 players in MP, it's unlikely there's going to be a huge variety of decks...

He has five battle winners and yeah some how managed to band all day and win Nationals. By the way that defense is pathetic. :-*
I use the anti-b lost soul as well in multi player, I've found it extremely useful and in a few cases it won me the game at Nationals. And come on guys, even though he only faced 11 players (which is extremely small at nationals) each one of them had uber talent and deck building skill. He sure wasn't playing wusses. :-*

I do too. I don't understand all the banding though. more than half his deck gets decimated by HHI. How that survived, I don't know.

Another reason I wish I had gone.. :-\

He has five battle winners

AoCP, Transfiguration, and Zeal are the only true battle winners.  I counted Abes Servant to Ur because FBTN can win you battles (as evidenced) but it is not a guarrantee.  Are you counting Jehodias strength?

@ LN, Congrats on winning Nationals.  I dont mean to dog on your deck, its just that it makes me wish I had come to play too.

Annual anti-speed decks in T1-mp rant:

There are so many great defensive ways to stop speed in T1-mp.  When are people going to actually start using them?  I know that Booster stinks everyone away so that they can play with the new set released, but the other reason why no one plays T1-mp is because the fun of the category is removed when its a simple race to 5 with no defense on the table.  If only MASK had been successful...

It hasn't had much of a chance. I think you all gave up too easily on type 1 multi, it's one of the most exciting categories out there. People don't want to give it a second chance for a number of different reasons including the newbyness of it.

I agree with you Daniel that it is a very exciting category, and I love to play it at tournaments in the MW and EC Regions (where people actually play with defense).  It is not too uncommon for all 4 players to be tied at 4 LSs after a hard fought game and then for play to go all the way around the table a couple more times before someone can actually get to 5.  That intensity is hard to be matched in any other category.

But of course there aren't any games like that at Nats :(

My last National outing I seem to recall a number of games including my final round to go down to the wire. And had I not had I not had that one last turn I would've tied or even lost. And at pretty much every table, especially the top table I had to face numerous defenses that included a stout black, pale green, splash stand alone, and I think I remember playing brown or crimson as well. I was surprised to see people playing many thick well rounded defenses. You didn't face any of them Proff Underwood, or at least recall some of them? I think everyone's perception of type 1 multi is somewhat skewed. All they see is the first and second place deck the past few years as being speed, and they'd be right, but what they fail to realize is that many decks there are completely balanced complete with good defenses. It's not as lopsided as the world thinks, it's much more balanced. I don't think it's so much speed as it is the players and who pilots what deck. The one thing that is lopsided in any multi player game is when 3 people play all their doms on one player, aka ganging up. lol

I did see some defense, but I recall there being only 3 MASK players in the category because the rest of them all decided to play Booster.  So although there was some defense there, the defenses weren't really built to stop speed.  And when 2-4 of the 4 decks at a table are speed, it won't be stopped unless people do it on purpose.

Haha, I knew I'd here the "only 11 people." ;)

Jehoida's strength is definitely a battle winner. Band in Moses and still be able to play and you're good.

Here's how most rounds turned out:

Turn 1: I get a band and it's almost impossible to stop on the first turn.
Turn 2: Play Zeal or something else.
Turn 3: Who's been giving out souls? Play some lost soul generator and go in with a band.

The band does not win... the band stops people from ganging up. If someone has defense, two writs and two cms can still stop you. But if you have 4-6 guys in battle, If I can get past the defense teaming up can almost never stop me. I knew that with 4 rounds and 11 people, I'd need to stop teaming up at all costs if I wanted to place.

And why isn't anyone counting aotl as a battle winner? I'm pretty sure that won me the game every time.
As a national champion, I support ReyZen deck pouches.

For all of the reasons people mention not liking multi-player, I think we should all get behind adding the teams event as an official category. It gets rid of a lot of the downside from T-1 Multi while keeping the fun of a multi-player event. We had 24 teams play in the extra after-hours Teams event. That was a great turnout and was really, really fun.

That's 2 years in a row with around 50 people playing TEAMS and having a lot of fun.  TEAMS ftw!

I can't bring myself to support teams until it has something to run against and until Rob would be willing to run a 4th day of Nats (or at least run a teams event post BD/multi on Sat, which I don't think he is willing to do)

Brandon, Congrats again on your win in type 1 multi!! You are a great competitor.

Crustpope and Alex, opinions are like bellybuttons everybody has one. Saying you can beat someones deck is nothing more then talk and conjecture until you do it. He actually played, did all that was required, and did very well. I'm sincerely sorry you weren't available to be there because I always feel the greater the attendance the better it is for Redemption. Give the man his props and move on.

Mark and Daniel, The competition in this Multi tournament was the toughest that I have had the pleasure to play against. And I can attest that he EARNED that title! Thank you both for realizing this and for your congrats to Brandon.

Oh. I'm not trying to bring it into the realm of I can beat him. I've played him; I know he's good. I'm just calling into question how this deck in particular won 4 straight games. I'm calling into question why not a single person ran a HHI or anything? I find that odd. Props to West though of course.

And I liked your bellybutton quote. That's a good one.
