Deck Breakdown and building craziness:

So deck building....I boosted a TON of Heroes but obviously could only make room for so many. Most of the heroes were blue except for Asa, Hezzy, Shealtiel, and Eliakim which were solid pulls for Sealed. Eliakim negates brown characters which was a stellar pull for my deck! And Shealtiel can look at a bunch of cards on top of my deck and can take any one of them. Seth was a pretty pull because he just sits in my territory waiting for his "add to battle" to trigger. I was actually hoping for a bunch of white pulls from LoC packs but only got one..."Preparing to Return", which, honestly, was all I needed for white. It was nice to bounce my Ruth hero for a d1 and then plop him/her back on the table. Damascus was also a nice speed pull as well as I used it as a Fort every time. Another solid pull was "Feast of Unleavened Bread"....end game winner every time! However, in the beginning of building the deck I did not think of this card. During the deck building rush, I put all my blue heroes I pulled in my reserve which I thought was good. I could have more heroes to work with if backup was needed. However, after looking at my card abilities, I realized I had no way of getting them out. That's when I looked to Feast of Unleavened Bread! I realized that I can put most of my O.T. enhances in Reserve and get practically all of them out to set up end game! So, with like 1 minute left to build and sleeve I took out all the blue heroes and replaced them with good OT enhances.

My defensive pulls were good too: Mercenary Chariots, King Hazael, and Syrian Marauders....a CBI band after taking a site, dcing a Fort, or underdecking a pesky Evil human my opponent has in territory. Or my opponent can discard a good card from hand instead of all that. Marauders was excellent as well since I can take an Artifact or an evil enhance from my opponent...and almost guaranteed CBN with all the searching and drawing going on these days! Mercenary Chariots is great as any of my grey warriors can use them. I almost always used it on King Haz. I rarely used my Demons for my blocks. A few times I used Foul Spirit and Unclean Spirit. I never used Controlling Demon (I probably could have cut him during building).

Other things happened during deck building like forgetting that I needed sleeves which I forgot at Charles Johnson's place and then having to yell to George Celotto two tables down for sleeves....which I could have almost been DQ'd for because some of his sleeves had "R" on for Reserve when we used to be able to do that. I kept yelling to him "George I need more sleeves!" It was crazy!

I will be posting my matches here soon! I need some time to look over the spread sheet to help trigger some key play memories! Be back soon!

Adam Alvarez (New York) 5-2
Adam was a cool guy that I got to play first round. I drew 1 soul and he drew 2 or 3. He chose to start and I remember him playing down a brown guy and Goliath which was  an early shot to my white banding. To start off, Eliakim came up on my opening draw which was awesome! However, I didn't draw any enhances to support my grey EC's in hand. So, he rescued and I had to give up the first soul. Off of my draw 3, I drew Damascus and  Preparing to return, and By My Spirit. I played Damascus down as Fort for the draw off of any search he does and played down Boaz so I can play Preparing. For most of this game, I was able to rescue with Eliakim to negate Adam's brown guys to get the 5-2 win. I pretty much forced him to play his Phillies.
Ray Celotto (PA) 5-3
This was a memorable game because he also had Phillies plus Goliath's curse to protect them in territory. The most memorable play was blocking with King Hazael and banded to Marauders for a CBI discard of his Phillistine Garrison Fort and a CBN taking of Arrogance from his discard pile since he searched for a card during his rescue. Later I blocked with them again to take his Goliath's Curse which he was unable to take back. I remember rescuing with meek Asa late game and was able to play Dream in battle to go get Unleavened. I did lose Asa that battle and triggered Seth to add Samson to battle. Since Ray played the last enhancement I was able to pull of Unleavened during battle to banish about 10 evil cards from Ray's dc pile to get all 10 of my cards from Reserve to set up game win.
James Dimaggio (MD) 5-3
It was great getting to meet a member of the hosting Dimaggio family. He was very pleasant to talk to and wasn't afraid to ask questions during the game. I have no problems answering questions provided I knew the answers without asking a judge....lol. Unfortunately, I don't remember too much of this game except that he drew me 5 souls in 2 turns which worked out well for me! And I was able to pull off Feast of Unleavened Bread, again for game winning battle!
Ginger Dimaggio (MD) 5-2 Timeout Win
It was a pleasure to meet Ginger! At this point in the category, we were the only 2 undefeated people. So, I was pretty nervous about this game. Turn 1 she drew 3 souls to my 2 and chose to start. I drew both LoC gold heroes plus Feast of Unleavened Bread. So, I used  Shealtiel's star ability to go get Gideon from Reserve to help with his Shealtiel's hero ability to get a card from a look ability. She started and laid out Phillistine Armorbearer and a brown I deck guy. She was able to get the first soul on a walk in because I didn't have EC support opening draw. My turn: I draw 3 and most memorable of the draw was Seth which I placed in territory. I rescue with Shealtiel to look at top 3 and take 1 as I had Gideon, Samson, and Shamgar down for the meek hero status I needed. I was able to get Angel from the look ability. She blocked with Armorbearer and went to deck and brought out Goliath. He kicked me out which triggered my Seth sitting in my territory. I added Shamgar which allowed me to play Angel for the soul. Since Ginger was new to all the new cards and star ability stuff, she needed to ask a judge to come over to clarify that Seth could do what he does. Judge concurred that it was correct and it was a battle win for the soul. The rest of the game she had  a hard time blocking against Eliakim's negate brown characters.

Brayden Babij (FL) 4-2 Timeout Win
This was a tough and nerve racking game. Brayden is a great young player and knows the game pretty well. He had a really good deck that had Phillistine Garrison, Judean Garrison, Jehoiada, and David (Purple/Red), and Windows of Narrow Light. The most memorable moment in this game was my grey block with Haz and Marauders to discard Phillistine Garrison and take Windows as I had 3 meek heroes in territory at the time of the take: Gideon, meek Eliakim (no brown EC's to negate as Brayden was able to get some Phillies in trade but had the I deck), and Samson. It was a successful block to keep him from getting the soul. The next memorable moment....I was up 3-2 and the game timer was winding down. Brayden rescued with Jehoiada/David band with Temple Spears and Shields on Jehoiada which caused David to be protected from harm. This was a tough fight as I had Martyr in hand along with Unleavened to use hopefully next turn. I couldn't use Martyr on David as he was protected. I had to ask a judge if stalemating David was "harm". Judge ruled that I could stalemate, but that was it. So, I gave it a shot in the hopes that Brayden didn't have an enhance. So, I started with Unclean Spirit to Haz to Marauders. I then underdecked his Commander Phicol. He asked for inish and I denied it by playing Martyr on Jehoiada. He was able to play a few enhances and I was able to play a couple as well. I was able to stalemate him to keep him from getting the soul. I was able to get one more turn to be able to play Unleavened in territory to set up game win again.
Landon Horton (Not sure where  he was from) 5-4
Really nice guy, but newer to the game. There was some craziness to start as I had accidentally shuffled my Reserve into my deck....ugh. But he was gracious enough to allow to get it reset. I remember at one point going into Reserve with an ability and realizing I was still missing like 3 cards. Again, we worked it out that  I could get those 3 cards back in there, but I told him that I would play with three less cards in my hand. So I shuffled, at random, 3 cards into my deck to make up for the mistake that I had made in the beginning. We were able to get on with the game. This was the first game that I had a defense drought for 3 or 4 turns. He drew 5 souls in two turns to my 3. He had 3 walk ins for rescues with his Ruth offense. I continued to draw him souls with all the drawing I was doing with my white offense, Damascus, and  Preparing to Return, but was finally able to draw some defense to block. I was able to come back and win 5-4.

Seems like you had a great tournament! I’m really happy for you my friend!

Seems like FoUB was awesome for you. I think that card was drastically underrated during the tournament (every open category).

It might be a little too good

I really enjoyed my game with Dermo. A few hiccups at the beginning, but it happens.
Yeah, FoUB pushed him back in control at the end of our game. It destroyed my ability to search out some cards I really needed in my discard pile to keep my defense strong.
P.S. I'm from PA. (Harrisburg area).
