While we were at camp last week, we gave the kids an option to play a low tech version of Pokemon Go using redemption cards.
-We hid cards around campus and challenged them to find them.
-Once they did, they had to toss a penny into the cup the cards were in from four feet (like the dexterity challenge of tossing a Poke ball).
-If they made it, they got to take one of the cards they found.
-If they missed, they had to go to the flag pole and then come back to try again.
-Once they had some cards, they would come to the designated battle location and try to defeat specific adversaries of each hero.
Example: They were given a starter hero (Abel) who, when brought for a battle, would fight Cain. The battle was done using dice. Whatever the attack on the character, they received that many six sided dice to roll. For every die that showed a 5 or 6, it was considered a hit and would be subtracted from the defensive number of the character they attacked. When the defense of a character was 0 or less they were defeated. Heroes would always attack first. Characters would roll individually and would assign their damage (multiple targets allowed) before rolling for any other characters that player had in battle. Abilities on cards were irrelevant and so older versions of cards were used for Heroes and only evil characters from the Cloud of Witnesses set were used. All heroes were mentioned in Hebrews 11 since that was our theme for camp as well.
I am considering offering Redemption GO! at Nationals.
