No, I'm not talking about our friend on here, I'm talking about http://youtu.be/G0k3kHtyoqc

This has me really, really excited. As long as it isn't butchered quite as bad as LOTR was, this has potential to be one of the best movies ever.

Yeah, that is the worst part.
On the bright side, we can sing the dwarves' song while waiting!

The Hobbit will be the last stone to fall now that HP is finished, unless they do more Narnia.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

What do you mean exactly? There are still plenty of classic fantasy franchises that need movie adaptions.

It appears that you have never read the greatest fantasy trilogy ever.

You're obviously not referring to LotR, so idk what you could be referring to. The only other great trilogy I can think of is sci-fi, not fantasy.

You can only think of two great trilogies?  There's plenty, you just have to think about it.

The distinct lack of any mention of Ender's Game is killing me here. Also, Dune.

Neither are a trilogy.  However, Ender's Game is absolutely astounding, and needs to be made into a movie.

Have you read the books? I will agree they were good movies in and of themselves, but they did not live up to the standard Tolkien set.

Before you ask examples, one word: Bombadil.

If memory serves me correctly, only the first three books (Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, and Xenocide) were focused on Ender. I would call that a trilogy as much as I'd call Lord of the Rings a trilogy.

Butchered is nowhere near the right word. Bombadil was cut because it would have been at least a 15 minute scene in a 3 hour long movie that doesn't actually have anything to do with the plot itself. As much as I love Tom Bombadil, it was not prudent that it remain in the movie, even the extended edition. As far as book-to-movie transitions go, Lord of the Rings is actually extremely faithful. Yes, they had to cut and change things, but that was to make the movies more cinematic, especially in Return of the King.

Orson Scott Card said that he had originally intended Ender's Game to be a prequel to Speaker for the Dead, but it morphed into a full-fledged novel on its own.  Besides, in Children of the Mind,

Yes, but we're only talking about the good novels in the series. Also, isn't Orson Scott Card writing the screenplay for an Ender's Game movie?

Yeah, he's confirmed for that.  This is the only situation that I'd support a movie being made.  Plus, I really want to see a well-made battleroom sequence in 3D.
