It sounded like you wanted movies that really didn't have much of a chance to be nominated for best picture to be nominated for that category. While I agree that Deathly Hallows Pt. II should have been nominated (it should not have won), neither Captain American nor Soul Surfer really deserved a nomination. Aside from that, I'm still livid that Alan Rickman wasn't even nominated for best supporting actor for his work as Snape in Deathly Hallows Pt. II. I think that all these "POTTER SHOULD SWEEP THE OSCARS LIKE RETURN OF THE KING DID" thing is absolute nonsense, but Rickman really deserved that award, the same way the movie deserved to be nominated for best picture, and it deserved best visual effects. I wouldn't get your hopes up for the Avengers to be nominated for best picture next year, though I'm more excited for any other movie coming out this year aside from The Hobbit.
