I agree, and I was speaking more to the comments that were calling her dumb or crazy.  Whereas, I don't think it is dumb or crazy to celebrate something that allows someone to be freed from the struggle of obesity. 

I understood both her motivation and logic.

This is just another instance where my choice of words would be different than "brilliant".  I would use the word "cunning".

Granted, "cunning" would certainly do the trick. I use brilliant, not because she's brilliant PERIOD, but because she somehow managed to pen and sell trash to an unsuspecting public and make a killing. She's "brilliant" at giving her targetted audience what they want.
