I really liked it. I'm not entirely sure, but it's likely that it's my favorite MCU movie (I've only seen it twice so far). While I think it had a very different feel to it than any of the other MCU movies (mostly due to its ending), I don't think that was a bad thing.

My only disappointment is that I think it would have been interesting to have seen:

Thanos invading Xandar and more of the fight with the Asgardian Refugees, but the movie was already pretty long and the beginning was good without it and I don't know enough about movie pacing to know if that would have thrown it off. They could also show the attack on Xandar in a Nova movie.

I didn't *dislike* it.

I personally tend to be a character-driven viewer, and the simple fact is that this movie didn't have a lot of character development. With such a wide cast, most of the movie was taking established characters and having them meet/prepare for a fight/fight. The vast majority for character development was on the part of Thanos himself - and while I love a believable and well-developed villain, it was also painfully generic and obvious. The fight scenes were good, for the most part. Still a few times where it felt like the camera was having a seizure (particularly at the beginning of the big battle at the end), but it's an improvement over several of the previous movies. The humor was dialed back a tad, which I also appreciated - Thor:Ragnarok and Guardians 2 were almost more comedy than superhero movies.

All in all, it's all right imo. It's not amazing (and it's not even the best Marvel movie) but it's gonna make ludicrous amounts of money anyway.

You didn't feel there was character development on the part of various Avengers? Although I agree not every one of the dozens of heroes was given an in depth role (because you can't), I felt most of the characters evolved over the course of the film. For characters they did choose to focus on--the Scarlet Witch and Tony Stark for example--I thought there was a great deal of change across the film.

It is also the first time anyone is able to meaningfully speak of character development in an Avengers film. So that would be a plus.

Only wish there was more Steve Rogers

I honestly felt like the only hero who had any major change at all was Thor. The rest of them all stayed the same as they always had been for the most part, or the "changes" we saw had already been explored in past movies. Iron man comes to mind. He was much more serious and dedicated in this movie. We already saw him like this in civil war though. He was dedicated to brining in the rouge heroes, even if they were his friends. we saw a side of him there that we hadn't seen before, but he was mostly the same in this movie. Maybe he'll have some real change in the next avengers movie, but I just didn't see it here. Star lord too, while still joking around and having fun, was more serious, more angry, and just meaner in general. Seems a lot like the end of guardians two when he was fighting with his dad.
Maybe I'm just projecting what I want to see onto this film, and maybe I will pick up on things that i didn't notice at first on a second watch, but I just didn't see a whole lot of changes in most of the characters.
I will say though, Thanos was an amazing villain. I'd say he's better than the joker, but they are both so different as villains, you can't really say one is better than the other. They both are amazing at their role, but they play majorly different roles.

Can't wait for Captain Marvel, Ant Man, Wasp, and Adam Warlock to go back in time to fight Thanos though!     

I thought it was pretty good. As far as being the best, I'm not entirely sold. Black Panther is tough to beat. I can't decide if the fact that Doctor Strange's final words were "There was no other way" and the fact that the next Spiderman and Guardians of the Galaxy movies have already been announced made the ending kinda lame or pretty good, but either way we know they have to come back somehow.

I was a bit sad to see Loki go but he was probably the most important expendable character so it makes sense.

I did really like Thanos' character development, especially with Gamora. We didn't get to see what happened with Pepper so Stark's development was fairly limited aside from his father-figure deal with Spiderman. There wasn't a whole lot else but that's not really what the Avengers movies are for and why the characters have their own movies.

All that said, definitely holding my breath for Captain Marvel. Should be a good one to set up Avengers 4.
