The Avengers set the record for 2nd highest opening day venue. Not even close to number one though.

It was only 9 mil behind.Just got back from watching it in IMAX 3D. Seriously, you would be doing this movie a SERIOUS injustice if you do not watch it in 3D. Also completely blows Batman out of the water.Best line in the movie?Spoiler (hover to show)Stan Lee: Superheros in New York? Give me a break.
It did not blow Batman out of the water. It was good but TDK was amazing. I don't think another superhero movie will ever beat it.What was the number one movie anyways? Was it The Dark Knight?
Spoiler: RAEG TEXT (hover to show)Okay, first off, it was a great movie, but NOT EVEN CLOSE to TDK. Or Batman Begins.Problem 1: No real themes. Except maybe unity, but seriously, that's lame. I thought they'd have something interesting with Loki's "You don't want freedom" thing, but it was pretty much just a one-liner and was never developed, even though he seemed to think it was important.Problem 2: They didn't develop the army at all. Okay, so they're alien robot things that are rather easy to kill. The big ones, less so. Um, okay?Problem 3: Iron Man made it back. Seriously, he should have not made it OR not made it and have the same ending as Holmes 2. Okay, maybe not. But I'm pretty mad Collins died and Captain America never signed his cards. That would have been a cool ending. Problem 4: What was with Hulk randomly being able to control himself with being...the other guy? "I'm always angry." That doesn't control it at all, and if it WAS because of that, why didn't you almost kill Black Widow earlier?Problem 5: Where was everybody else in all of this? You kinda-not-really find out about Portman and Potts, but nobody else. At all. Problem 6: No Christopher Nolan and Hans Zimmer. I do love Samuel L. Jackson, but Batman also has Morgan Freeman and Liam Neeson (well, the first one), so Batman is still definitely better.Problem 7: I really don't like Joss Whedon. Now nobody will take me seriously, but it's true.Feel free to explain how stupid I am and all the things I missed.
FWIW The Thor thing is just a problem with timing, Thor 2 is supposed to show how he gets back to earth which I why I don't understand why they released The Avengers first.
I haven't seen Avengers yet, but I didn't think TDK was so uber awesome like some of you guys seem to. It was a good movie for sure, but it wasn't super spectacular or anything.*prepares to be tar and feathered*
The Dark Knight, from an artistic standpoint, is inarguably the better superhero movie ever made.
