I haven't seen all the Disciples cards yet so I don't know all the cards you'd want... but here would be the concept. You guys think it's worth a shot? (I'll probably try it anyways) ;D
So you have Fisherman's Boat or whatever that card is called, Gates of Hell, and heal cards. So you use Fisherman's Boat to put your guys on the bottom, use gates of hell to discard them, and then healing cards to pull them out. You should be able to do this every turn you have a heal, and both fortresses are set aside so they're untouchable almost. (I think there are a few cards now that can target them, I'm not exactly sure). Anyways, this would make for a pretty fast deck without losing hero presence.
Anyone like this idea? I think this and another deck will be my two main ones this year if I can get all the disciples cards I need.

I think it was ruled that heroes have to be in play to be healed...but don't quote me on that...

that's sounds right. if they are going from your draw pile to discard pile, they never enter play. However, mildly off-topic.... when a card is revealed, does it temporarily enter play? because i think it might make sense to have it that way...

I'm about 99% sure it was ruled that the discard your whole deck then heal your heroes strategy with The Gates of Hell was ruled that it worked... I know at one of Bryon's tournaments it happened, not sure if that's his ruling but he didn't oppose (I also don't think he saw, but still). ;D

Nice Job! Here Is the way I play speed.~
Hur, + Gifts of Magi
Maharai, + Claudia, + ET, first Enhancement~ Book of Hozai, then Word's, then Reach. then AOCP( to get the job done!)
Two Teal Priest's, then Pentecost, and FF.
Fishing Boat, + 3 Disciples
You should be probably decked with a 50-53 Card deck in about 6 - 7 turns!

That's how everyone plays speed.... so....
Anyone have any comments as to if THIS idea will work?
-
I think it could work, until the healing rule change comes through. It's very interesting for sure.
-
So what will that do to Chamber of Angels + IamHoly?

Aye, but that was before nationals, when there were decks breaking that strategy....
-
Actually slower than the way I play Disciples Speed, because of all the slots taken up by healing cards. You don't need to do anything fancy to deck in 5ish turns.

+1 RDT is right about this changing.
-
Yes, this works very well! I built a deck very similar. (i've only tested it in 'RTS 1 player' never an actual game) but i threw in bronze laver as well.
-
the ultimate Speed Deck IMO is heroeles...heres why:
Gates of Hell is out you have pretty much a full hand of EC's (legion anyone?) Bronze Laver the hand then use Gates of hell to bring the Evil back and cycle through 2=3 turns plus some set asides like pentecost/First fruits on Saul/Paul and theres your deck.

What's the new ruling that's coming out? And honestly there was that much of a concern with The Gates of Hell being abused? It didn't win nationals did it?
-
something about healing heros that were discarded with gates and creating an almost infinite loop of some sort.
-
That rule change was decided on long before Nationals and before I was made an elder. It was held to be announced after Nationals.
-
So what IS the rule?

So what IS the rule?

I heard the official rule change was supposed to be that you can't heal heros that are discarded from deck or hand. I'm not sure if it is worded to only heal in play so I'm not sure about healing from set-aside.
Kirk did place 3rd this last Natz with a combo that used Gates + healing (congrats) but it still seems like overreacting and another needless rule change to limit strategic options.
