Speed Decks: Update

Has anybody played with a speed deck since ROA came out? I've played against all kinds of decks since ROA but 0 speed. Is this a dead strategy or are people just having too much fun with other stuff right now? What updates or changes would "traditional" speed decks need to be competitive today?

It think speed is a little less reliable because stonewall-type decks have enough cards to stop them (at least often enough to be scary).  That, and the deck discard decks are able to knock out a quickly drawn hand.

I think just some hand/deck protection is all that speed would need.

I Am Mercy
Type: Covenant • Brigade: Purple • Ability: 2 / 5 • Class: None • Special Ability: Protect holder's hand and draw pile from discard abilities on evil cards. • Identifiers: OT, Involves Music

it is nice if you can keep it protected from DoN.

Speed decks don't really need to change much if at all.  I don't play mine very often but it still wins when I do and most of the time by a large margin of victory.  Everything RoA introduced that might hurt speed can be worked around if you play your cards right.  If a person packed a deck full of cards to hurt a multicolor offense and/or defense they'd get pwnd by all the mono color decks running around since RoA.
Have you visited the Land of Redemption today?

This is what I expected. I will probably start playing speed from time to time just to see how it fares. It seems like the majority of the new cards that hurt speed don't work real well against other popular strategies.

If this was a year ago, I'd make some great comment about MASK.

But since this is now, I'll just laugh at myself and move along :)

It seems that Speed Decks have just been put on hold for a little bit. With the release of RoA there are alot of fun things to do with themes, civilizations and archetypes. In my observations and playing online, many normal Speed Deck players are delving into the variety now more available. Not abandoning it, but playing other styles for the time being. Just my thoughts and observations. I would also like to say that MASK achieved resounding success, but..................  ::)

Speed has benefited from RoA, it really hasn't been hurt that much. It's still one of the best arch types out there.

If this was a year ago, I'd make some great comment about MASK.

I think the problem was that you picked a bad name.  You should have chosen M*A*S*K.  Think about it scientifically. M*A*S*H lasted for eleven seasons; 2008 saw both the birth and the death of MASK. My considered opinion--from a sample size of two--is that it was the asterices (asterixen?) that made all the difference.

Mandatory on-topic segment: ROA hasn't had a huge effect on 2-player speed either way, from what I have observed. The anti-speed LS have slowed down speed somewhat in T1-MP.
