Post by: emonier on September 03, 2016, 11:30:06 AM
Im thinking of making a raider deck soon, and i dont know what exactly to put in it. Obviously raiders camp and capture cards, but are there any in particular that i would want in here?

Funny you were going to do that, Eric, because I was thinking last night about building such a deck. Call me sometime and I'll share with you the cards I was going to use.

Well if your going for a Raider deck Carr, Cooper, and Mack are musts, and Bruce Irvin makes Mack OP defensively ;). Women as Snares is fun if you want to capture basically everyone in their territory and Pale Green has some other fun capture stuff as well, maybe splash in some Magicians and throw in Charms.

Here are a few:

Egyptian Warden (discard an evil enhancement to capture a hero)
The Deceived Pharaoh (capture a female hero, or release a female to withdraw all heroes)
Arrest in Jerusalem (regardless of protection, capture a hero)
Arrest in Philippi (capture 2 human heroes in battle)

A dedicated RC defense is pointless without the old Protection of Jerusalem, as without RC most of the defense won't do anything.

If you're worried about Shipwreck, Lampstand is a much better choice. Even though there are other ways to get rid of Raider's Camp, Lampstand will be useful in stopping other evil dominants. A Lampstand/Covenant with Death combo could do very well in stopping Heroes like Abram's Army that dominate Raider's Camp.

Foreign Exile from CoW is a great card for helping you get RC quickly.

Lost soul Tempter: When you put this lost soul in a site, you may capture a female human.
Herod's dungeon: When blocking with a herod while this site is unoccupied, you may capture a human hero with strength 7/* or greater and place it here. When you block with herodias, discard a captured hero.

just my :2cents:

Tempter LS and Herod's Dungeon do not work to put Heroes in Raider's Camp because they are not being captured by a human Evil Character.

One effective strategy I've seen used with RC is "self capture". ECs like Herod Agrippa II (capture Peter), King Asnapper (Pharaoh's Daughter, Leah, Rachel) and Idolitors (Aaron) can be effective chump blocks if you have the appropriate Heroes to gowith them.

I also really like The Roman Jailer who can play the capture card when he blocks, lose by the numbers and heal himself so he can block again next turn.

The self capture is definitely the way to go
