I'm working on my 15th real life deck for casual play. About the only defense I haven't tried yet is exclusively Phillistine, so I am trying that. I am thinking about a Musicians offense, as this is just about the only offense I am not using yet. What is the basic strategy of a musicians deck?

What are the "staples" for a Musicians deck please? The next questions will be who has all of those cards for sale for a good price

Musicians are no good atm. About the only thing they can do is gather Michael, have him band to the trio and play Protection of Angels unnegatably.

In order to get musicians to work (and I haven't succeeded yet), you will need to use the non-white musicians and enhancements from those brigades. Currently I'm trying King Davdi/King Solomon with AotCp and Peace Treaty. You can also use gold (King Solomon/Deborah/Moses), green (David/Miriam), or red (David/Barak).

If you use another brigade of musicians, you will need to use Musicians' Chambers so that you can use all of your music-related enhancements from white brigade on the other musicians.

The problem with musicians is that there are no NT musicians-at least not until after Nationals, when the Braun family will solve that problem, at least for ourselves.

I just won with my musicians deck yesterday at my play group twice, once 1 on 1 and i won in a type 1 multi player

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, Musicians didn't look too hot, but I'm running out of ideas. Please look at this list of my 14 offenses and tell me what I'm missing.

Red Banding Warriors with interrupts and negates
Blue Genesis
Teal Mix
Gold Mix
NT/Luke Gold with Abom defense
Purple Mix (mostly Royalty)
White NT females
Green Mix (mostly prophets)
FBTN with rainbow enhancements
FBTN banding
Silver Mix
Cannot be negated combos/choose the blocker
Garden Tomb
Big Numbers Windows of Narrow Light

Thanks for additional ideas. Another idea I just had is red non-warriors (except perhaps Centurion at Capernaum). Could use Jael, Jepthah, some NT red characters and red battle winners maybe.

Does your gold mix go Judges-heavy? If not, that's one to try.

It's about 75% judges, and does use the judges strategy for the most part. It does stronger with a little better with some NT heroes in there too. Thanks.

Unless this looks awful for a casual deck, I think I will use this red offense (with a Philistine defense). It uses a lot of cards that are not in my banding warriors deck.

You should ask Gabe how he felt about my Heroless with Philistines.

Of course, most of the damage I inflicted was due to my Sadducees, which, IMO are necessary for a Heroless deck in this day and age, because of their ability to allow you to use U&T. But Philistines certainly helped. A combination of Phillies and Sadds can be brutal.

Of course, I have no idea how you could possibly make even a mildly successful Heroless deck at 50 cards. Mine is 70, with 15 EC's. You are welcome to try it, of course, but most offenses worth their salt could probably survive the biggest defense you could put in a 50 card deck that still needs some offense (dominants, healing cards, a battle winner or two) not to mention lots of artifacts (Holy Grail and Lampstand are necessary, and several others are recommended). The idea behind Heroless is to be able to face any type of offense and completely shut it down. So you're welcome to try it, but I would maybe go with Hero-lite, like a Zeb deck. My Zeb deck is 56 cards, and it works pretty well (it got me second in March ROOT) so if you took out the cards that you don't use in casual play, you could probably make a 50-carder pretty easily.

OK, assuming I try heroless. Other than the obvious cards like Holy Grail, what are the best battle winners for Paul? Right now I have A Child is Born, Deborah's Directive, Zeal for the Lord, Authority of Christ, Words of Encouragement, Reach of Desperation, and at least one healing card. What are the best hero enhancements for heroless? Also, do you use Storehouse?

Zeal, Aocp, Reach, Blessings/protection of angels, Jordan interrupted, Trumpet blast + 1/2 healing cards are what I usually do.

As for SH I usually use it because of the size.

In my Heroless, I use AoCP, Zeal, Reach, and TBlast, in addition to Brass Serpent. I would find any more than that excessive, and potentially hand clogging if you don't draw Storehouse very early. Since converting Paul usually happens after your opponent is decked, all his EC's are either in territory or hand. So you convert him in one turn. In the next turn, you activate Hidden Treasures and either play AoCP to clear their territory, or Trumpet Blast to clear out a protect Fort, then the next battle use AoC. You should know what they have if you use U&T, so anything they play in the first battle you should be ready for with either Zeal, Reach+AoCP, or AotL/Grapes (obviously this means you'll have to reconvert Paul, but that shouldn't be a problem).

I keep hearing AOCP mentioned. Considering that it is Paul, why does it have to be the promo version? (Trying to save money here) Thanks again.

You don't need any silver to pull that off at all. Just Band Chenaniah to Heman to Asaph and Ethan and then you can recur Protection and play it unnegateably. It's a marvellous combo.

Correct. In the original Heroless of the North (the name for my deck, since the only other widely known Heroless at the time of its creation was in Florida), I didn't use Paul, I just converted a 1/3 Sadducee to purple. So AoCP was more necessary back then. But AoC will do just fine in most cases.
