Title: Just a thought for defense...
Post by: cooldudejsw on September 02, 2009, 10:38:09 PM
what if you used korah and played scorn of michael on him and band all brown evil characters into battle including gomer who bands to KoT and negates all special abilities on characters and enhancements except your band? wouldn't that work pretty darn well?

Hard to set up, and not worth an otherwise useless card like Korah IMO, but nice find. Just watch out for AoCP.

I'm very curious as to why you wouldn't use use foul spirit.

Check out the type I 2P 2nd place deck. I made sure to put that combo in it, and I believe it worked a few times. You'd have to pm Jeffrey to see for sure though.

Yeah, Foul Spirit would be better. And you could recur Scorn with Nadab if you wanted. But still, there are things like AoCP and Trumpet Blast on Joshua and now Grapes of Wrath to worry about, so combos like this are risky.

Yeah... but in a brown deck I think it's a must, if you can afford more than 14 cards for defense. Can it be stopped? yeah. Will it typically win battles? Yeah.

The thing is that when it is stopped, it will probably be stopped for good and you will be wiped out.

If you want to stay with a brown defense, Foul Spirit is a good choice.  I also like the Gomer + KoT combo.  I think you could fit both into the defense to make your chances of pulling off the combo better.  All three characters can stand on their own too.

It's a great combo that will often win you the battle if used at the right time.  A good player will know when to use it and when not to.

Of course there are cards that stop it.  Everything has a counter.  The point is that it's powerful, effective and there isn't a lot you can do about it most of the time.

you could also use battering ram on the band and use king amon, discard manessah, and put a couple of battle winners that are black enhancements in because scorn of michael is OT.  ;D

Let me try to translate:

You could also use Battering Ram with the band, in order to get rid of an OT Fortress (assuming you somehow got initiative). You could also use King Amon after discarding Manasseh in order to get back Scorn of Michal, or one of a couple black battle winners.  ;D

Those are some nice ideas cooldudejsw, but it would probably be better to use King Nadab and King Jeroboam (almost exactly like King Amon and Manasseh, except they are brown to fit better with the defense). Also, as I mentioned, if you have a large band, you're probably hoping they won't be able to give you initiative to play Battering Ram, since the point of a big band is to get really hard to stop numbers. So it might be nice in some cases, but it's better to leave playing Battering Ram up to smaller guys who can band and still possibly get initiative (like the Pharisees or Sadducees). Besieged would likely be better for that purpose anyway.

And once again, you'd want to splash a different brigade instead of just using king jeroboam and king nabab... why?  ;)

Once again, this was in the type I 2P 2nd place deck.
