Title: How Would A Job Deck Work?
Post by: Lampy 2.0 on October 01, 2015, 11:05:23 AM
IMO, Job is one of the most interesting heroes in the game. He is blue brigade's other major deck theme. He can serve as the only hero in the deck, and he can always return to play through Dust and Ashes. But here's the tricky part. What happens if Dust and Ashes is KO'd by something like Shipwreck? Would it be beneficial to make the deck semi-heroless, in that if Job can't make it back to my hand, I'd use something like Holy Grail to make new heroes? This deck is a gimmick, but I'd love to use it sometime. What would you guys suggest for the deck list?

Play it with demons and try to suck out shipwreck on gates of hell.  Most people aren't running SHipwreck though so it's kind of a meta call.

Josiah is correct that Shipwreck isn't played a lot in T1. Here are some other ideas to deal with that.

If you really want to ensure Job's health you can also include angels and Raising Lazarus (I).

Include a Temple or Tabernacle with Lampstand.

Another fun combo is Ahimaaz (Ki) and Chariot of Fire. You can include Kerith Ravine and Kidron Valley. This allows you to trigger Kidron Valley over and over if needed and it keeps Ahimaaz out of play via Keith Ravine when you want to use Job's Faith.

I have a deck that uses Job with some angels to get him back. The angels are also NT and I can use them to recur Peace via HS. Job + toss =amazing. Protected from CM and Writ, they can't get those blocks with DoU and the likes and huge toughness. You just need a couple of enhancements like 7YoP, Job's Faith or Endurance of Job to take care of bigger characters.

Also, if your worried about protecting dust and ashes, you can throw in a protection of jerusalem with your angels. i made a deck in lackey with job, angel at shur, and angel at jerusalem as the only heroes.

Protection of Jerusalem unfortunately doesn't actually provide any protection to Dust and Ashes. D&A plays to set aside area and PoJ only protects O.T. Fortresses in play.

Another idea for a Job deck is to tech against the cards that can hit D & A.  Protection of Jerusalem is one of the hardest counters to Assyrians (and therefore Assyrian Siege Army), and Might of Angels or Book of Life will wipe out Roman evil characters (including the one that hits forts in set-aside - Caligula maybe?).  Both of these GEs are Silver, which makes them a natural additional to a Job offense if you want.

Another idea is to consider your Job deck a Silver deck with a Job splash.  Silver is tough to stop over the long haul and can benefit from artifacts that wear down a defense, like Chariot of Fire, CWD, and Crown of Thorns.  Just include the highest-strength heroes (Captain, TSA, Mike, Gabe, The Destroying Angel, Legion of Angels), a few of Silver's best GEs, and never stop attacking.
