Cactus Game Design Message Boards

I know this project has been stalled for a long time but I'm going to pull this together.

I am seeking Type 1 decks built with a certain set of criteria:

• 50-56 cards
• regular (non-SA) Lost Souls
• no rares or "higher"
• Starter cards are okay, preferably those still in print, but do not post a starter as a submission, or a starter with one or two extra cards, or anything lame like that.
• 4 starter-deck Dominants only (SoG/Burial/CM/AotL)
• must be competitive.  I am looking for decks that people are going to be able to sit down and play a game with, not a worthless pile of 0/2 Bucklers and 2/0 Poisons.
• No "tin" cards.

One last thing, it there is a particular card otherwise not allowed in these decks, say you have a negate deck and you want to add Covenant of Noah, add it to the end as sort of a bonus card, but if you do so, the deck must be legal with or without any optional added cards.  So you cannot have a 50-card deck with Covenant of Noah, because without it the deck would be 49 cards, and you cannot have a 56-card deck without Covenant of Noah, because adding it would require an additional Lost Soul to make it legal.  But the card must be an optional improvement to the deck; e.g. do not make a conversion deck that would flat-out lose if Three Nails is not included.

For every well-constructed deck that I use in this project, its creator will receive a pack of Priest cards.  Deckbuilders can earn a set of tin cards (no boosters) or a box of TxP for the same deck if they meet all of the following criteria:

• no Warriors
• no Women
• no Artifacts (Covenants are okay)
• effective use of 0/* good cards or */0 evil cards (special ability cards with no numbers do not count)
• a strong theme (e.g. conversion, angels, O.T.)

I cannot stress enough that this must be a deck you would not mind playing in a competitive friendly game or low-level tournament.  It does not have to be able to compete with a high-level speed deck or FBN juggernaut, but it should at least show up to the party.

Comments to help improve decks are welcome, but if there are multiple decks laid out, make sure you specify which one you're addressing.  Also, once the deckbuilder has made his change or (politely) declined your suggestion, all related posts will be deleted to keep clutter to a minimum.  The thread will only consist of deck ideas or pending comments to improve them.

:edit:  UPDATE: One other thing, when submitting your deck ideas, please include (or edit in) a brief paragraph at the end describing the theme of your deck and some of the cooler things it does.  It doesn't have to be long and it doesn't have to be Shakespeare, just a few short sentences will do the trick.

Because those are the rules.  It's preferred but not required, that's why you get a bonus pack for NOT using them, as opposed to having your idea rejected if you DO use them.

URs and promos are under the same guidelines as rares, use them only to beef up a deck that could also work without them.

Schadenfreude means "happiness at the misfortune of others" in German. I choose it because of the defenses obvious decreasing theme(with face of death for extra nastiness) the defense is actually a OLD idea of mine revamped with current cards. The point of this Deck on Defense is to either site lock someone or stall them with the sites long enough for the offense to get working. The offense is just straight up green basically your suppose to use sword of the lord to either play some of the site killers on the brown site or to make the evil character in battle fight one of your brown dudes and play gib trick/zelphods sin or just beat him by the numbers. Also on offense use the plague of lice and Shoes of peace to help whittle down your oppenents evil cards in hand to make it easier for you to just negate what they play(EG: beniah snatches a spear or cov of noah).Useing search/iddo the seer combo to get out cards you need works well.

Idea: Keep up the #'s on offence with all the healing and wear down there defence and yes its suceptible to FBTN. and on defence poison away with Face of Death. and incurable (from priests)
would be a great addition to this deck.

This deck will actually work very well against the majority of decks.  The offense has a fair amount of winners and can recur one of the winners again and keep the heroes alive.  On defense, there is recursion for Gibeonite Trickery or any other OT enh.  Also, on offense you can discard Letters to the Churches with I am Holy and recur it with Ethiopian Treasurer.  The person using the deck must know when to activate Holy of Holies and Golden Calf though in order to prevent hurting him/herself.

Also I did not use any warriors cards!

Love of Money doesn't seem to make musch sense in a single color defense. Perhaps you meant Murmuring?
