I need an 12-18 card defense and I dont know which would be the strongest.

I know I could do demons but I always do demons and I want to try something new, any suggestions?

i'd say Persians if your offense is good enough to win after a couple turns plus Philies aren't as good anymore

Hot. This is without Disciples. Not too sure crim got too much non-heretic stuff anyway.

How are they not good eneough? They can be brought back with Philistine Outpost and can get even more philistines in deck with it.

Last year phillies rocked even without Chase Utley due to recursion. This year... Nazareth. I still use phillies in t2: Outpost, Armour Bearer, Garrison, 12FG are all useful. Its just 4 cards in a 100+ card deck, so it isn't that much of a waste, and more often then not they work a few times.

The best super-small defense for its size is Heretics. Just ten cards can block 5-6 times.

I agree, heretics are great for a mid-size defense (I consider standalone and the cookie cutter uzzah/gomer/tas/plot 'small'). Too bad it's biggest weakness is fbtn and a misprinted philetus.

Creeping Deciever can band to Saphira and a lot of other combos that can't be stopped. They work pretty well against the powerful prophet offence.

how does Philetus work against heretics?

Philetus works against himself by transferring initiative almost every time, (except vs. Job, Angel of God, and Men of Judah, a banding chain, or FS Heroes). His ability is interruptible, so he's definitely less useful than the smaller guys, though his ability is better (the 'cost' is removing a card from your opponent's dc pile, and if it is a good dominant, all your NT Souls are protected from all Heroes).

i'd say false teacher is on par with philetus. i've caught myself at times banking a philetus but no good dom in opponents discard pile. teacher is a sure thing as long as you have that ot evil enh (which shouldnt be too hard...mid attack and nebby's pride are pretty much staples, as well as captured ark in most decks).

True, but even if there are no good Doms, you have the chance to remove a discarded Hero/other key good card, even if it won't help your protection. And in a lot of cases, it will be easier and more beneficial for you to win the battle with Midianite Attack or Nebby's Pride than with protecting LS's and then being discarded.

Well here is a defense I will be using shortly in one of my decks. Are you doing a speed deck?

If not, It might not be as good.
