Title: Anti meta/meta offense
Post by: Ironisaac on September 08, 2016, 10:13:00 AM
I don't really know what the theme of this is, but it has some good meta and anti meta aspects to it.

1   Samuel (RoA)
1   David the Psalmist
1   Armorbearer
1   Captain of the Host (Wa)
1   Rahab (CoW)
1   Susanna
1   Ruth (J)
1   Elders of the City (J)
1   Boaz (J)
1   Joshua, Son of Nun

1   Live Coal (FooF)
1   Family Bond
1   Gleaning the Fields (J)
1   Ruth Meets Boaz (J)
1   Loyalty of Ruth (J)
1   Scarlet Line
1   Plague of Frogs
1   Behold the Lamb

1   Boaz' Sandal

the idea that originally got me started on this was thinking that "hey, captain doesn't negate banding, and Armorbearer can band to anyone who fought an earthly battle! he could band to captain!" so i started making a  prophets offense with judges thrown in there and quickly realized that it just wasn't cohesive enough IMO, so i took it a different direction in an attempt to make it more anti meta, which is just a direction i like more for the sheer fun of it ;D. ruth already fit pretty well with the banding theme i had going, they were great for anti meta, and were super easy to recur! adding in rahab to to boost the joshua characters and give another awesome battle winner to ruth, and adding susana for added speed, initiative, and another user for scarlet line is something that I think really makes this deck come together. I haven't tested it out at all, and the enhancements could probably change, but i think it could be pretty good over all.

combos:
1. samuel to search david for a draw 2, band to AB, band to Josh to captain.
2. All the ruth searching and banding shenanigans ;D
3. rahab giving joshua guys SA and giving Ruth and Susana an awesome battle winner

Weaknesses:
No answer for capture
Household idols/HSR would shut this down fast. I'm thinking of adding in Faith of abel for that.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Armorbearer can't band to Captain, because Angels aren't considered to have fought in early battles.  But he can band to Joshua who can band to Captain.

Armorbearer can't band to Captain, because Angels aren't considered to have fought in early battles.  But he can band to Joshua who can band to Captain.

In the REG, it says

"‘Fought’ includes any of these forms of participation in a battle:
● fought a war or military campaign,
● commanded military personnel (directly or indirectly), or
● equipped military personnel"

Although it doesn't list captain as "fought in an earthly battle, IMO he should be added because he did command military personnel (joshua) directly.

The next line also says "‘Earthly’ means that the battle occurred in the physical realm, meaning both of the characters involved were human."

It could be stated more clearly, but I'm pretty sure that's meant to say that only humans fought in earthly battles.

+1

"Earthly battle" refers to battles among humans.

Ahh, i see. Well, either way, the deck still works.
But he can band to Joshua who can band to Captain.

Needs Coliseum and The Throne of Grace.  Drop Behold the Lamb.

Just about every deck is weak to HHI and HSR   :P   Captured Ark is incredible right now, as it gives you two uses and can let you cut DoN to fit in 7 other Doms.  Not to mention its big counter Nazareth is not being played.  Faith of Abel + Captured Ark should be good enough.

Needs Devotion of Ruth and Kindness of Boaz.
