Persian Defense + some questions

With the release of the new Ram with Two Horns and Prince of Persia, how well do you think a Persian defense would work, and should I splash in few more chars (there are only 6 Persians)? Plus which enhancements would enhance the set-aside theme that would work nicely with this deck.

I already know I want Raider's Camp to enhance Persian Presidents' power. I'm also thinking of adding a bit of site lockout due to the fact that you really need Media for Ram with Two Horns plus Lion's Den is pretty nice for Persian Presidents.

I have a question related to Persian Presidents though. When a hero is shuffled into the deck, does it lose its "was set aside" status? I believe I remember reading that somewhere, but I want to be sure.

Gallows is good to make Plot less of a cost sink (and the protection it gives). Also, since you're using brown anyway, Gomer would be a decent addition. CBN banding is nice, and she has low numbers if you want to drop Plot.

Maybe Jeering Youths? Gets to play first against OT heroes.

I think Persians/Orange could work although it might not be top tier. I believe that cards return to face-value when they are shuffled, so yes, the hero would lose set a aside status.

Yeah it does because I remembered trying to break the game by using AatT and discarding my own son of god and keep recuring it because technically it had been discarded without making a rescue. I would run persian demons also, I find they work well if you are trying to have some fun. If your looking to place then.....

I get the feeling that if I'm adding a site lock bit to this deck, then I'm going to need to make this a defense heavy deck. Then just include a few heroes that are small and some enhancements that cannot be negated. Maybe that'll work.

I was considering using The Thief:

Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Orange • Ability: 10 / 10 • Class: None • Special Ability: If blocking, take a card from opponent's Storehouse into hand, or discard a Character in a set-aside area, or discard a card at random from opponent's hand. • Identifiers: NT Male Demon • Verse: John 10:10 • Availability: Priests booster packs (Rare)

He has very little blocking power due to his high numbers, but can be pretty nasty to at least one char in a set-aside area, which is hopefully where a lot of the characters are at that point. Even if they don't have a character there, a random card from hand could end up being the one battle winner they have or even Son of God/NJ. Plus, with a couple orange interrupt enhancements, it could be a win.

What do you guys think? Should I have someone with more potential to stop the current battle or should he fit into the theme like Thief?

the point of Persian Ds is to set aside their heros with Ram and Hamon and the capture then with Presidence, put them in R Camp and keep Presidence alive.

That's certainly one of the nice tricks a Persian defense can use. I think The Thief is a good find on your part joezim007. He's one of the most underrated orange characters. I hadn't ever considered him with Persians but as you noticed he does have good synergy. Considering Persians already have access to three other orange characters it would be easy to include The Thief, Gates of Hell, Deafening Spirit and maybe a couple other orange enhancements. I think it's worth trying. :)

I almost lost a game once due to The Thief.  RA for 3rd soul, battlewinner, SoG/NJ in hand (didn't play them, was expecting him to tap the 2-liner).  Thief nailed my NJ, so it took me two more turns to rescue for the win.

I lost a Booster Draft game once when he picked off my battle winner out of the nine cards in my hand. I had used Herod's Dungeon to capture a Hero which I was planning to band in with Freeing Earthquake. My opponent had no orange enhancements, and the band would have been higher than 10/10. But he discarded Freeing Earthquake, and I had nothing else. The next player then went in for his fifth.

Thief is definitely one of my favorite orange demons, and as you can see, there is plenty of anecdotal evidence of the greatness (I once had my brother choose to play first with the plan to first-turn Mayhem, tried to rescue, and I got his Mayhem, for instance).  I like where you're going with this synergy, I was trying to figure out myself what to use with Persians.

I would splash in Prince of Greece (WA) he's another brown demon and can band to your Prince of Persia.
