Toned Down Trainer Deck

To help with people who don't catch on to the special abilities in the starter decks, I have decided to make my own training deck.  The major differences are that:

1) There are not that much special abilities.

2) The only way to win (besides AOTL (can't say CM because I don't know if I have any extras)) is by the numbers.

Since it is just BTN, the only special ability that I am trying to have is banding.  For one of the decks, I have blue/silver on offense and gold/red on defense (you can probably see why I chose those colors in that deck).  My second deck has brown/grey as the defense.

This is where I hit a slight snag.  I am trying to make the decks even (considering I'm using up the collection that has already put together nine decks) so it would be fun to play and teach newcomers who can't pick things up fast enough (i.e. people who haven't been around games like Redemption their whole life) how to play.  The slight snag is what should be the offense for the second deck.  I am considering green/purple due to my experience with them and the banding capabilities (i.e. armorbearer and PJ/David).  Is there any suggestions of different brigades I could use?

My friend is coming over Thursday with the extra packs he barrowed for his deck (I'm my groups storehouse btw) and I'll be able to check out what's left.  Once I do that, I can post the actual decks online to get some feedback.

Please let me know anything else that might help my toned down training deck idea.

God Bless

P.S. I an planing to include one site in each deck (color are like the g/h deck) and will see if I have two Tables Of The Law so I can have one in each deck (so they can learn about sites and artifacts without being overwelmed with checking the abilities all the time).

Hey, Ironica!  I definitely like your idea.  I think it will benefit new players (like myself) in getting started with the game.

My response to your strategies and ideas on special abilities:

I like this idea if you want these decks to be used for training only.  If you want some decks that newbies can start out playing in tourneys with, special abilities need to be included.  But perhaps you could expand on this idea and post a new topic on starter tourney decks.  But I do like this idea very much for training.

My response to your strategies and ideas on offense and defense:

Great.  Just fantastic.  I've heard that the blue/silver combination is quite strong in offense.  For your defense in deck 1, I have a question: what were your strategies on the gold/red combination?  I would very much like to here so I can a. improve and b. offer criticism on the deck.  As far as deck 2 goes, gray and brown are very strong because banding is common with these brigades.  If you have no special abilities, you want to be able to band for sure.  Also I like your ideas with green/purple so as to help banding capabilities.  Also in deck 1 you want silver and blue cards that are capable of banding.  But you probably were thinking of that already.

Overall I love the idea and encourage it greatly.

God bless,

Hey,

Have you thought about including "worth x/x if ..." cards in these decks?  It would maintain the by the numbers idea but would expand the number of cards you have to work with.
