What constitutes a good reserves?

The capability of reserves has definitely changed since RoJ, with more ways to search for cards with really broad terms like 'search for a card with a discard ability' (wages of sin). With this in mind, what should be thought of when building decks' reserves?

The general rule is if not card disadvantage it's likely good. I don't have much hope for the majority of the cards that only topdeck a card from Reserve because it means you're going one card down. If a card searches your Reserve for a card and puts it in your hand or plays it directly then it's likely at least somewhat good.

I consider these qualities of utmost importance in reserve cards
1. Power (potentially end game power)
2. Accessabilty
3. Versatility

I tend to use reserve to bolster my defense more than my offense. Knowing that I have to rescue 5 (or 7) to win I always want offense in my main deck.

I don't think this is always a disadvantage however. Consider a Reserve access card like The Rainbow...it lets you put a Genesis battle winner on top of your deck for Zebulun to draw right into.  ;D

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

Actually more to this point, I also was disappointed by all the topdecking from reserve at first...but then I realized, that at least for Good Enhancements, topdecking is really good because of an amazing card called 'Ends of the Earth' which lets you grab whatever you just placed there every time.
Life is what you make of it.
