Type 1 Multi - Basics of a Deck?
« on: July 17, 2018, 04:47:40 PM »

As the title says, what are the basics surrounding a typical Type 1 Multi deck?

I'm sure everyone has their own opinion, but without having ever built one (I've always just used my Type 1 deck) - I'm curious if there are other building strategies as the game format itself is totally different.

Hope this question makes sense  :-[

Defense is mostly bad because in Redemption multi it's first player to win instead rather than last player to lose so even if you're defense is amazing people will just rescue from the other players. Basically play the fastest offense you can make with extra soul gen and maybe a few chump blocks.

The two most important objectives in Multi are: 1) Being able to rescue every turn and 2) Getting to dominants (Son of God/Second Coming most importantly) as soon as possible.

Thanks guys!
Let me see if I've got this right:
1) Build offense as quick as possible
2) Limited defense needed
3) Get to your Son of God lickity split (which comes with cards that let you draw frequently?)
4) Create souls...who's territory do you put them in? Strongest defense (to dissuade other players from going after them) or the easiest/weakest offense (but, others could get to them first...right?)

:)

Depends on whether you can rescue it immediately or not. By all means use your "capture self" hero on the guy with no defense or souls, but don't send your Ammy Slave there unless your turn is next. Exactly with what you said.... don't put them somewhere that others can get to them first.
ANB is good. Change my mind.

As an anecdote I did play in a game where one of the four played mayhem on his second turn. And had a full Armor of God by turn 4 (IIRC) - that was his only offense -
Is that a wise strategy; having one mega strong offense or is it better to have a plethora of strong hero's. (Does that make sense?)

If you want to go back in time to when CoL was a deck then sure, it works in multi (but is more vulnerable than in 2 player) but Armor of God is nowhere near fast enough to be a competitive multi deck now.

Checked the abbreviation list but didn't find... CoL :( Not sure what that is. Thanks for the help Kevin!

Children of Light. It's a card that enabled a very fast Armor of God/Fruits of the Spirit deck that was errata'd (Ability changed) so that the deck could no longer function.

Ahh, gotcha - thanks :)

Another strategy that I've had to face twice was decks with banding in them. It was a big pain because my own hero's (or EC) were being used against me. Is that another traditional strategy as well?

Yeah the ability to use other players' characters is very powerful. Every Tribe works great and he can fit into any Throne offense.

Banding on both sides is pretty important. Cards like Wheel within a Wheel and Fall of Man that prevent multiple opponents from using dominants to stop your rescues are important as well
