Three Lions Gaming - Deck of the Month Contest

This month, Ken has launched a new feature on Three Lions Gaming, the Deck of the Month.

http://threelionsgaming.com/deckofthemonth.html

July's deck is one that he received permission to use and he will be selling 3 complete copies of the deck for a reduced price than what the individual cards would cost (check out the link above to see the deal).

Starting in August, Ken is going to begin using decks that are a bit cheaper and also were specifically designed for the endeavor (as opposed to decks built for other reasons). This allows more people the option to purchase the decks as well as for Ken to offer 10 copies of each (rather than 3).

That's where you come in. During July, I'll be hosting this contest to get submissions to pit against each other for August's Deck of the Month. Interested? See below for the contest rules/details.

Contest Rules

Goal:
To create a deck as competitive as possible that fits into the below guidelines. Decks designed for 2P or MP are both accepted, please specify in your post which you designed it for.

Price Limit:
The total worth of all cards in the deck must not exceed $100 (per TLG prices).

Deck Size:
The decks must conform to the usual T1 deck-building rules. There is no restriction on size, however you must remain within the above price limit.

Submissions:
Submissions will be accepted from now through 11:59pm CST July 14. To enter, simply post your deck list including total cards, cards in each section, as well as total TLG worth (or send the same to me via PM). Limit 1(one) entry per person. Posts (or edits) made after 11:59pm on July 14 will not be accepted. Feel free to edit your submission as desired until the end date/time.

Voting:
You, the community, will vote for the winner! Voting will commence from July 15 through 11:59pm CST July 28. The winning deck will be announced the following day and added to the site for sale August 1. Votes submitted after 11:59pm on July 28 will not be counted.

July's Theme:
In honor of 4th of July celebrations, July's theme, that your deck must adhere to in addition to the above restrictions, is as follows:
-The offense (Heroes and Good Enhancements) must contain red, white, and/or blue brigades. Only those brigades are accepted, no other brigades may be included (with the exception of multi-brigade cards that have other brigades in addition to red, white, and/or blue).

Prizes:
Everybody loves prizes! In addition to having your deck featured and available for sale, the winning deck-maker will receive their choice of the following:
-20% off the already-discounted price to buy the featured deck, OR
-10% off your next order from Three Lions Gaming

Any questions or comments, feel free to post here or send me a PM. Hope to see some great decks!

Is it just me or does the deck that is there have an extra lost soul?

It has the Hopper Lost Soul, which doesn't count as a LS for deck-building purposes.

Not this month. ;)

I thought about it, but with the 4th of July theme you'd have to use crimson, and I wanted there to still be diversity in the decks.

No. I clarified the initial post that only the Heroes and Good Enhancements must be red, white, and/or blue.

Could we make the deck posting anonymous by sending it to you so that there is no chance of bias towards the maker. Especially since there are awards...Just a thought.

I'd rather not require sending via PM, but if you do not feel comfortable posting in the thread please feel free to submit your deck to me that way.

I will allow submissions in both mediums, and before the voting I will randomize them and post each deck (from both this thread and the PM) without creators listed.

If you can make one with that price, yes. I think Ken is generally looking for T1 decks. I'll double check with him to see if we could maybe to a T2-version, or a month of only T2 decks. :P

My other question is there any benefit in making a deck under the $100 limit?
Other than having to be no greater than $100, there is no difference in benefit/disadvantage in regards to the contest with varying amounts.

The benefit is that 3LG is a business.  It is ideal if we can design a deck that has the potential to be competitive in tournaments while at the same time being cheap enough that Ken can sell copies of it for a reasonable price.  It is unlikely that someone will go to 3LG and buy a deck for $100 or more.  But if he can advertise a "Tournament Quality Deck" for only $75 or so, then some people might actually buy that.

Thank you to browarod for running this contest!

TheHobbit, if you'd like to fit a Type 2 deck under $100, feel free. :)

Mark, that's exactly right, and I'm hoping to offer them for less than $75 to make them more affordable still. Many people have asked for pre-built decks to be offered, and I know that there are better deck-makers out there than me. This is everyone's opportunity to create a deck to be featured on Three Lions Gaming! I appreciate all entries and look forward to seeing what people can create.

Ok so I may or may not have gotten a little carried away with the theme ;D

Offense is a funky little offense I came up with that uses all three colors Red, Blue and White and only uses N.T Females... yes I know I could have used Garden Tomb females but whats the fun in that? ::) Offense is pretty straight forward... you got battle winners and you have cards to recur said battle winners, Lamenting for Jephthah's Daughter is your best friend.

Defense is pretty straight forward and has proven itself in battle before... very similar to a defense I ran at Boston nats which managed to place 13th in type 1 2 player. Defense is straight up Magician spam... yeah... time when you use All Hope is Lost and watch your opponents break down in tears. :'(

Deck price clocks in a grand total of $83.78! Wow I cant image how much it would cost to make a legitimate deck :o
Oh also the prices I used were from the June price list so I am not sure if anything is out of date or not...

   Total   $59.27

Offense is some classic WC banding with a splash of FBTN. Wheel within a Wheel makes for a sneaky way to bring Ahimelek into battle for the CBN return. Solomon's Temple allows Blue Tassels and Altar of Incense to be active together, making the banding chains very difficult to defeat. Does not have anything to deal with artifacts but Lying unto God could easily be added to help against artifacts like Asherah Pole.

Defense is standard Brown with both of the recursion Kings (Nadab and Amon).

I believe this to be a very solid deck for a player to start with that can easily be upgraded as the player's collection grows. For example, Unclean Spirit can be upgraded to Gomer (TexP), I am Healing can be upgraded to Chariot of Fire and Cage can be upgraded to Scattered. Being fairly balanced between offense and defense, I think the deck is better suited for 2P, but with a few minor modifications it could easily be turned into a competitive MP deck.

Yes, multicolor enhancements are okay. I updated my wording again in the original post.

As long as the Hero or Enhancement is at least partly red, white, or blue it's acceptable! :D

CLARIFICATION: I don't necessarily need individual prices (unless that helps you calculate), I just need a sum total of all the cards somewhere in the post/PM, just to help me out. :P

Should we use 25 cents for each card because it isn't in the tlg price list at the moment. At least not for me.

Currently the starter deck cards are $2 and the tin cards are $3 each. They aren't in the price list yet, but they are available for sale on Three Lions Gaming at those prices.
