Well, I think there are five dominants almost essential for every deck:SoGNJAoLCMFAGoyS, DoN, and Burial are also pretty important, but not necessarily necessary. The three most important lost souls are the Female, NT, and 4+. (Plus, I think the Lost Souls and the Hopper are extremely useful.)
I have always hated the 4+. It's just a lost soul that does nothing and can't be rescued by a dominant.

You don't want to have only lost souls that everyone has access to just so that you can rescue them yourself! Besides, there are only two lost souls in the game that are immune to SoG and NJ (the 4+ and the NT), so you still have at least five other self-rescuable lost souls if you have those two in your deck.
