Title: New to deck building :)
Post by: Adevine on June 04, 2017, 10:04:59 PM
Okay any help is welcomed!!  So, just to let you know my sets that I have.  I have most all the cards from the older sets (minus a few commons here and there) and all the newer cards beginning with TxP onward, except I am still fleshing out my TEC set.  So are there any other topics or advice that would be crucial for deck building?  Thanks!!  I am completely new to this side of things.

It depends on what theme and style of play suits you best. I'd say make a deck that sounds fun to play, post it here, and everyone one can give feed back. Or, you could look at some of the decks already posted here on the boards and make those or modify them.

In addition to posting deck ideas you could make JD happy by play testing it on lackey to see how it works.

Be prepared to lose though! ;D

Also, if he gets all his doms in the first turn, no, he's not cheating, lackey's algorithms are just broken in his favor. I've learned just not to question it at this point.

Bwahaha!! I am teh lackey bot I'll set difficulty phasers to stun!

But yes playing on lackey is a great way to test many decks and builds along with sharpening your skills! And playing Root!

Thanks guys!  Just got my last two sets today....TxP and Disciples, so I have everything through RoJ for the most part.  Still needing some for TEC, but anyways, now I get to see what I can come up with. :)  I will try to jump on Lackey here in a day or so.

As long as your deck has:

Or this guy:

Then as far as I'm concerned you're off to a good start.

Okay, the promos I don't have much of. :)

Well, luckily for you Music Leader isn't a promo!

This deck makes good use of him, uses cards you probably have, and isn't hard to play (at least I don't think it is, with practice):http://www.cactusforums.com/complete-decks/iowa-states-t1-2p-2nd-place-'revelation-music'/ (http://www.cactusforums.com/complete-decks/iowa-states-t1-2p-2nd-place-'revelation-music'/)

Best part is, because you're not using Mayhem (with or without Hypocrisy) or Confusion (CoW), your games won't end in fisticuffs or shouting matches.   ;)

-In all seriousness, I'd try a lot of decks to find colors you like. The only color I can say I'm not entirely comfortable building a deck around is mono-clay, but you seem to have most of the cards you need to make any deck you want, and your preferences are your own. If you post whatever you come up with, I'm sure you'll get some advice and tips. 8)

If you do want to go mono clay, Phillipi is the bomb. Super solid theme that I wish I had found sooner. Fbtn in clay? Yes please!  ;D

Personally I'm a fan of Jerusalem for mono-clay...oh two Heroes with CBN enhancements? Why yes, that sounds excellent.  8)

+1  Add in Watchful Leaders to protect Rhoda who protects Watchful Leaders in return from
NT capture and discard abilities and you got a battle winning duo.

Phillippi, Jerusalem, and Colossae are the best in my opinion. Corinth is good, but more annoying than anything with that STUPID sowing bountifully. That card should have never been printed. ;D

Tell us how you REALLY feel about it, Isaac. Don't hold your emotions back, bro.  ;D

SB is awesome with the balanced decks that now exists. I'm all about it!

Ahh Isaac I had almost forgotten how great Paul will be in a Corinth deck!!  :priest:

SB is fine in T1 (very powerful endgame card to help one of the weaker church themes), but personally I think it's unbalanced in T2. The fact that it leaves the good cards on top basically turns it into a form of hand control in addition to the powerful discarding ability.  :(
