I'll never understand site-lock in a color other than Black. You can do the same thing with about half the cards, which leaves room for a functional and quick offense.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

site decks are cookie-cutter. most of the good site deck players use black or some hybrid...after all, they do have the absolute best site-lock card (*cough cough land dispute*). combo decks require much more thought and planning.

Hey,

Using a cookie cutter is easy.  Creating a cookie cutter is harder.  Cookie cutters exist for both site and combo decks and there is room for creating new cookie cutters for both site and combo decks.

I was rather proud of my all-purple black/brown site deck, which I thought broke the mold rather nicely.

That's strange, because I'm pretty sure that I played you with my site deck that didn't have any black in it (or brown for that matter).  In fact, it was completely crimson.  How's that for breaking the mold? :)

As a serious sitelock player, I must say that sitelock can be both.

You CAN just throw in sites and a few anti-access cards and call it a day, but you can do so much more with them.

Desolate gateways, one of browns most underrated cards... combined with PwD and Sites can discard a LOT of heroes. Site placement cards are nice too, place an EC face down on a site and just when they think they've won, you spring another random EC out. TexP added even more strategy to sitelock with Kir and especially Herods Dungeon.

Sure, its not THE most strategic ever, but it has a decent amount of depth and choice to it.

Also, as a prolific combo deck player, I must agree that combos do require more strategy.  :P

Going back to the original topic...

I NEVER use the 2/3 liner. It's lost me more games than it's helped. Often times I draw it when my defense is being slow, and they get two easy points. I dislike NEEDING other cards for another one to work at all (except in combo offenses).

I also never use the hopper. Every time I use it, it gets pulled out with Harvest Time. Not worth it for me.

*/4 soul is pretty potent mixed with PwD, as it then becomes a */6 or */7 soul. That's held off some RA's for a few turns before.

To be honest, aside from NT, Womans, and exchanger, the rest of the souls depend completely on how your deck plays out. Never just throw the "best cards" in your deck without a reason for them being there, only put in what adds to the decks playstyle or theme.

Unless you're playing Speed. Then you should just get a list of every card people are complaining about for being OP and put them all in the same deck.

Thanks Lambor, appreciate the advice. :)

...and then win Nationals with it.
