I'm somewhat new to the game and have learned a lot through this site as well as a few others, and I have what may seem to be a stupid question. I recently bought a bunch of cards and I managed to narrow down the expansions they came from, but when looking at cactus game designs website, those packs are now listed as "retired."

My question is, can I still use "retired" cards to play with in my deck or are they completely worthless and I need to by newer cards? New cards isn't a problem since my wife loves this game too.

Like I said, stupid question I know, but this is the first CCG that I've ever played and want to make sure I've got everything squared away cause I'm trying to really get it going in my area cause we have a lot of people that play Magic around here and this is a great witnessing tool I think.

Not a stupid question at all, and the answer is that yes, you CAN use them!

Cactus has not banned or retired cards from being playable in tournaments, you can play any card ever printed (though some may have updated abilities, which are posted on these boards if that is the case).

What you saw is that the sets those are from are out of stock. While there are some packs around for Womens and Warriors, for instance, Cactus no longer has a supply and does not sell them.

While a lot of the older cards may not be as useful in today's meta-game, there are some of those older cards that still see constant use (and can be more valuable due to rarity and the fact that their packs are no longer available in large numbers).

"Retired" refers to the pack itself no longer specifically being available (some of the packs have been out of print for awhile and Cactus doesn't have many, if any, packs remaining; you can sometimes find some available via other sellers, though).

All cards from all packs are playable in all tournaments (as long as they're in card sleeves) and no cards from packs are restricted or prohibited from use.

You still find decks today that have cards from older sets because some of them are still good even with all the newer stuff that's been released.
