Evil Banding Deck?

So I was looking through the 10th Anniversary starter decks while on the plane coming back from TX, and I noticed that the base Sagicie (sp), the 1/4 guy and can band to any of his type. So can one make a deck around that concept, preferrably Type 1 so that I can keep it to 60 cards. If not, it's all good. Are there any other decks that revolve around banding to be fantastic?

The biggest issue with Sadducees is that they can be negated, and they don't have a ton of good battle winners. Probably the best banding decks are demon defenses, and those are best in Type II. Otherwise, some Philistine defenses are pretty decent too, especially when combined with demons, and there can be a lot of banding there.

Banding offenses, on the other hand, can be really good, and Martin Miller won Nationals with a banding offense deck.

The banding mechanic seems like a good one, but not really sure due to having not yet played against another opponent. Where might I find some cool banding cards, set wise?

I have one word that kills evil banding. "Multitude" It's an angel enhancement. It multiplies the */* of the hero in battle by the number of evil characters blocking. In other words, if 5 saducees block my 10/10 Gabriel (as happened at nats) he becomes a 50/50 angel
Two wrongs don't make a right but three rights make a left. Either way, God will get you there.

Oh. Again, so what about good banding? Is that good? What sets might I find banding cards in?

Good banding is boss. It won Nationals. http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/complete-decks/2012-nationals-t1-2p-1st-place-deck/

Good banding decks usually use a bunch of heroes that band to a I Chronicles or 2nd Samuel Hero and heroes that can band to a Warrior Class hero and band Ira, Benaiah, The Strong Angel, or Captain of the Host into battle.

Good banding cards come in most sets. Also the banding combo I mentioned above is usually just used mono banding decks. There other bands which are easier to splash.

Good banding is pretty good  :police: The Kings set is where you can find most of the characters.  There are some cards for good banding in TexP and FooF, such as Heldai and Asahel.  Contrary to professoralstad, who would argue that Abishai isn't necessary, I would say he is.  He doesn't get returned to territory by Goliath and is another person to play a warrior's prayer on.  Also, if you can get the banding chain big enough, and in the right order, you can negate a warrior class character with strength up to that of king manessah.  I like abishai.

I'll look to do that kind of deck. Really liking small decks. Really easy to manage, and a good banding combo in a small deck makes the game move fast.

Question: Is there any limit as to the cards available for use in tournaments like Standard for MTG?

Aside from having to have a copy, no.  There are no banned cards for any legal format.

You of course have to follow the deck building rules and some cards have errata so that they don't do what is printed on the card but all cards are legal to play.

Banding can also be really strong for defense but in general people don't play with much defense.
