Title: Deck Styles
Post by: LordZardeck on July 30, 2011, 01:16:15 PM
Can I get a list of the popular Deck Styles? They used to have names for them, but I don't remember them. Like Speed Deck or something, where the goal was to burn through your deck as quickly as possible and the deck was full of cards that made you draw. If you'd just post all the ones you know, that would be great. Thanks!

Turtles are almost all defense with a (hopefully) undefeatable end game offense strat.

Combos are decks entirely based around completing a combo that results in the opponent being unable to win for some reason (usually via either deck discard).

Trololols are decks designed to make the opposing player incredibly frustrated.

This was deck styles, not themes.  Another style is endgame recursion.  (Scribe + Golgatha + Abe's Decendant?  Epic win)

You mentioned speed as a deck style. Am I mistaken that 'speed' would be considered also a banding deck of sorts?

Some times. Speed goes in a lot of decks as a splash to make it go faster.

other style
FBTN banding

I don't agree with this statement you can add drawing cards into a deck to make it go faster but it doesn't mean it is speed. If I add Pentacost, First Fruits, Feast of Trumpets and Gifts, I don't consider it speed. Speed is a deck where you base your deck around drawing to get out doms or a set up like thaddeus with his disciples.

Are we making a distinction between styles and themes?

Themes would be good too. Please inform me though when you are talking about themes instead of styles.

If you're looking for themes, check out the "tier list" thread.
