Balanced Decks

I was just wondering if anyone else thinks that balanced decks are somewhat of a disadvantage. I mean, it seems to be better to be slanted towards offense or defense, but having about half and half seems a disadvantage to the player. What do you all think

edit: we're talking about t1, so that will keep the t2 jokes down a bit hopefully, haha.

This should be in a gameplay area of the forum...

Pol is on the balanced bandwagon. I'm not convinced myself. All the tournaments I've been to this year, an offensive deck has won, except once. I've been to five(?) tournaments this year.

Every tournament I've used a 50 card deck in, I've lost. Eveyr tournament I've used a 63 card deck in, I've won.

Seriously? Gabe won the first tournament, and you won the next two, right?

Did I win this last one, too? I honestly don't remember. I'm like 90% sure I did beings I gave Scott some packs.

Ah, you're right. Thats where those packs came from.

It would have probably been three wins if it weren't for you....

Having been playing for way too long I am a strong advocate for balanced decks. I first learned to play the game using balanced decks because back in the day if you didnt you would lose end of story. I have played way too many games where the luck of the draw has destroyed me and ive found that through hours of meticulous balancing I can make it so that with a balanced deck I hardly ever get draws were I only get Good and no Evil or vice versa or God help me the evil all Dominant Hand. Even if I dont use a  50/50 deck I make sure the my offense and defense still have about equal hitting power and I still spend way too long balancing the decks :p
3 Prophets Packs ftw

I am a big believer in balanced decks.

For purposes of deck breakdown, I count each card as it is most often used when calling it good, evil or neutral. For example, even though the Revealer LS is a neutral card, it's designed to help my offense therefore it is a "good" card. Single-color Sites (like Herod's Dungeon or Caesarea Phillipi) are counted as "evil," even though they can on occasion be used for access. "Neutral" cards are cards like Mayhem, Grapes, Destruction and Wall of Protection that can be used both offensively and defensively in any given game.

My top 2 decks have the following breakdowns:

Deck 1
Good: 26
Evil: 26
Neutral: 4

Deck 2
Good: 24
Evil: 28
Neutral: 4

Both of these decks have performed very well in online play (I always play T2 in live tournaments).

A balanced deck is only worthwhile if the offense and defense work together. One of my decks is so fully integrated that it can become difficult to tell when I'm using my offense for offense or defense and vice-versa. But if you do have a well-crafted balanced deck (White/Orange is the easiest integration), then I've found that it performs better than an offense-heavy deck.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Why do you say white and orange integrate easily?

Susana puts Demons on bottom, GoH puts Demons in play. Orange being one of the least popular defensive colors gives TGT more of a chance to work. Orange can easily band to your opponent's defense, helping to thin it out for TGT or just to remove some problem EC's.

Two Possessed by Demons also helps TGT.

Unfortunately, orange doesn't get rid of Golgotha...

TGT offense doesn't absolutely need an "ignore" rescue...there's plenty of firepower for it to win already. If it does happen to get 1 or 2 ignore rescues, it's near impossible to beat.

Not absolutely, but Benedictus + Consider the Lilies should get you two rescues. The other one can just be the four TGT ladies and He is Risen band to TSA.
