What I Would Have Played

Had I gone to Nationals, here is the deck I was heavily considering playing up until a week before the tournament, when I decided I wasn't going to nationals, and a few days later, when I decided I'd probably just play the same deck as last year, with a different defense.

Total Cards: 51
Lost Souls: 8
Hopper
Female Only
N.T.
2 Liner
Exchanger
Resurrection
2 Other Souls (generally Revealer and CBP, but I was changing things around)

Sites: 2
Dragon Raid
Canaan

Dominants: 7
Son of God
New Jerusalem
Angel of the Lord
Grapes of Wrath
Burial
Christian Martyr
Mayhem

Artifacts: 3 (would have fit Captured Ark in if playing at Nats)
Covenant with Death
Household Idols
Holy Grail

Heroes: 10
Moses
Ehud
Simeon
The Generous Widow
Jair
Jephthah
Gideon
AutO
AWASN
Aaron

Enhancements: 5
Meeting the Messiah
Ehud's Dagger
Samuel's Edict
Eli's Sound Advice
Birth Foretold

Evil Characters: 9
Bera, King of Sodom
Foreign Wives
Lot's Wife
Abimalech
Gomer
Uzzah
Selfish Kinsman
Abner
Prince of Persia

Enhancements: 7
Stone of Thebez
Gibeonite Trickery
Haman's Plot
Image of Jealousy
Korah's Rebellion
Wickedness of the Tenants
Scattered

It had some speed issues, but the defense generally made up for it, with some nice autoblocks and a lot of enhancement power.  Lot's Wife->Gomer->Selfish Kinsman is pretty good. Prince of Persia is really good.  Abner is a nice quick FBN counter.

A few questions...

Why Bera over Women of Thebez? I know he gets initiative a bit easier with just the 3 strength, but then why not just use Delegates (which are also better for LS gen)?

Did you consider running Samson so Birth Foretold would not be a dead card in games you had already drawn Son of God?

Meeting the Messiah vs Repentance and Restitution makes for a good debate I think: 2 vs 4 cards for opponent, CBN vs non-CBN, TC vs non-TC...what was it that made MtM your choice?

Selfish Kinsman is great, but I think the ability to use Tenants Kill doesn't outweigh the FBTN of Foul Spirit who can still be banded in by Gomer.

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

Bera is for Canaan Ehud. It doesn't really work with either character you mentioned

Makes sense...I might still consider using Delegates and just using CwD and AwSN to avoid the self LS gen.

Bera is best for Canaan.  I could see Delegates, but his ability is a bit too good.  Plus BLUFF SODOM BRO.

Nah. Usually I save SoG/NJ for the last few and it often gets shuffled back or underdeck'd.  My deck isn't fast enough to reliably redraw it.  I'm not a big fan of Samson in general though, he's a one time use that isn't a guaranteed rescue.

MtM is territory class and gives me the option of converting my own character to draw.  I have a lot of territory destruction in here with Jepthah, Holy Grail, and MTM, which is crucial for the few enhancements I run.  It allows me to not rescue with Simeon/TGW, which is most rescues (TGW tho), but still snipe an EC.

I tried Foul Spirit and he just didn't do it for me, especially because of all the CBN banding around.

Other than MTM, which is absolutely the right choice, most of it comes down to preference.

That was me. Bad rulings push players away.
