Doug's National Deck

I was not planning on posting my deck since I went 4-3 (one timeout loss) and was a little frustrated I lost my last three games after starting 4-0, but a few factors changed my mind. I don't know how much Redemption there will be in my life in the coming months and years as I will be starting my life as a seminarian at St. John Vianney Seminary at St. Thomas University in St. Paul, MN, and I wanted to somewhat say goodbye to the game and thank everyone. Second, John Earley mentioned my deck in his tournament report, so I wanted to give people an idea of what he was talking about.

56 Cards

Souls (8 ):
Hopper
Female
NT
First Round
Site Doubler
Revealer
Wanderer
Beggar

Dominants (7):
SoG
NJ
AotL
CM
FA
DoN
Mayhem

Sites (6, all silver):
Nero's Realm
Sodom x2
Garden of Eden x2
Hostile Enviroment

Artifacts (3):
Lampstand
Urim and Thummin
Holy Grail

Fortresses (2):
Throne of David
Philistine Outpost

Heroes (12):
AUtO
Sam
Gideon
Moses
Aaron
Ahimaaz
Phinehas
David (red)
Asahel
Abigail
King Amaziah
King Solomon

GEs (8 ):
Sam's Edict
Ehud's Dagger
Eli's Sound Advice
Zadok Anoints Solomon
Zeal
Bravery of David
Valley of Salt
Counsel of Abigail

ECs (7):
Goliath
Phil Armor Bearer
King Saul
Amalekites' Slave
Prince of Persia
7 Sons of Sceva
Judas

EE (3):
Scattered
Judas' Plot
Ashtaroth Worship

I made the offense first and it's pretty straight forward. I tried to make a small defense small to keep room for the large offense. I liked the idea of sites and picked 6 very important sites (the only silver ones I could find in my collection). Goliath and Prince of Persia are the main story - either I kill their Wheel or Call with A Worship or block their silver hero with one of these two. This was very effective, including against John Earley's deck with AUtO, Captain, and TSA (he did win that game 5-3 though). My sixth game was against a 154 card demon/angel deck and the only thing that kept me at a time out loss was the fact that he spent a lot of time shuffling. Nathan Voigt beat me for the third loss, but in that game, I couldn't draw a site which kind of made the defense useless.

I had thought seriously about adding Land Dispute, but I never missed it during the tournament. I regret not putting in the withdraw lost soul, as Goliath was half of my blocks. Talking with Mr. Earley afterwards, we thought switching 12FG and Gomer for Judas and his plot would be a good idea. He also suggested adding Haman's plot. People are welcome to do what they want with this, although who knows what the new set will do to the defense's viability. However, it'd be cool if some could make a more successful version of this defense since it was really fun to play with.

Again, I want to thank everyone in the Redemption community for welcoming me back to the game these last few years, especially Bill Voigt for his generosity with me. Congrats to Zac and the other winners. Above all, thanks to God for blessing me and allowing me to have some fun playing Redemption.

Hopefully you can find some time to squeeze in redemption here and there.

I really enjoyed playing you at both the t2 only and at nationals. Your a good guy to lose do as I've done that twice lol.  Blessings on all your future endeavors.

St Thomas, that sounds familiar...I think their campus is pretty close to Roseville, and I know of a place where a few tournies are held there... ;)

Trust me, I understand that life gets in the way of Redemption, and other things have higher priority. Just know that you will be missed in our playgroup, and we hope you will find time to join us once in awhile.

Love this deck...I agree you might have tried to get a bit too tricky with Judas/Plot, but props for thinking outside the box. Judas is never a bad play. I had a feeling you would make a run, and it's a bummer you ran into the one type of deck (monster Silver deck) that was a truly terrible match-up for you. Makes me wonder if you should have split between Silver and White sites.

I too hope you'll be able to come to tournaments now and then...I think you would really enjoy playing some T2 MP and I would be very intrigued by what you come up with for that.  ;D

Solid deck, and I'm glad a Samuel deck was represented at nationals, since I was planning on running a similar version in TEAMS (without the red though...more of a Royalty version of The Deck).  Plus Prince of Persia <3.

I'll definitely try to make it - it just depends if the weekends they let me out are the same as the tournaments. I just hope you have a different deck by then...

Thinking about it more, a much better option would have been Arrest in Gethsemane, whether or not I left Judas in. I can easily see that being extremely effective.

As far as T2 multi goes, you know I'll play Isaiah...

Arrest would have been a nice play, though I wonder if Live Coal would knock it out pretty easy.

Isaiah is a beast in T2 MP, but I think you would need to have some other trick to go with him. Really hope you can make a tournament here and there!  8)
