Midwest Regionals/WI State T1-2p 1st place

I figured I'd put this here for my records and I thought it would be nice to share this since I'm not going to anymore tournaments this season. After the recent rule changes, I decided to abandon my Teal/Sam deck and go with Isaiah. This deck underwent many changes, but this is the final version:

Total Cards: 53
Lost Souls: 8

Female
NT only
*/4
Revealer
Switch
CBP
Shut-door
Hopper

Doms: 7

SoG
NJ
AotL
Grapes
CM
FA
Mayhem

Arts: 5

Gifts
Writ
Charms
Hidden Treasures
CoF

Forts: 1
Obi's Caves

Multi-heroes: 1
Daniel

Green Heroes: 4
Hur
Hosea
Habakkuk
Isaiah

Silver Heroes: 5
Cherubim (FooF)
Seraph (RoA)
Seraph w/ Live Coal
TSA (wa)
Michael (Ki)

Green/Silver Enhancements: 4
Isaiah's Call
W3
Live Coal
Spiritual Warfare

Green Ens: 2
Provisions
2 Bears

Silver Ens: 1
Striking Herod

Good/Evil Ens: 2
Razor
Siegeworks

Multi ECs: 4
A-slave
Astrologers
Manny
Damsel

Brown ECs: 1
Uzzah

PG ECs: 4
A-Survivor
A-Archer
The Rabsaris
ASA

Multi EE: 1
Invoking Terror

PG EEs: 3
Confusion
DoU
Forgotten History

Strategy is pretty self-explanatory, w/ Speed coming from Gifts and Soul Gen off of Hosea (A-Archer, Manny, or Rabsaris for self gen), A-slave, Mayhem, Hur, and Hopper. Rarely was I without the bosses of the deck, Daniel or Isaiah, who wrecked face; often winning battles just by being in an angel band. Confusion only took out SoG once though...

I could not be happier with the results. Due to some seriously great draws it was 6-0 at Regionals and 4*-0 at States (* one timeout win). I didn't play the same person (minus JW) twice between both tourneys, so most of the decks I played against were different, which was very enjoyable!

Thanks Ken for hosting and thanks to all the players that were there, it was fun! Thanks also to the playtesters and Rob for the rule changes, I would not have even tried this deck if it weren't for them! :)

Looks solid. I'm surprised not to see any Two Thousand Horses though.

It was in there for States, but at that Tournament my Isaiah got removed from the game, so for Regionals I switched it w/ Obi's Caves, which worked out better. If this deck got bumped to 56 instead of 53, 2kH would def go back in, but it works really well at this size.

Congrats on taking 1st at both of the big events in WI this year!

This deck Looks really fun to play. I had a similar deck that ran 56 cards that I enjoyed.

I'm curious why you chose Habakkuk as your 5th prophet and how he worked for you? Also, did you try Covenant with Death?
Have you visited the Land of Redemption today?

Thank you! It's too bad you couldn't make it to either :(

I chose Habakkuk because he stops Uzzah, Belshazzar's Banquet, and Failed Objective CBN. That was great when Dan/Isaiah weren't available, and his discard ability was very useful against defense-heavy decks. I gave Cov w/ Death and Confusion o' Mind a try when I used Balaam, but all 3 got cut when I added Writ, Uzzah, and Rabsaris.

This deck looks very well-built.  Congrats on your performance.

I have a similar offense that I tried out recently and it did very well.  I added in Abednego for more CBN banding (and some CBN protection), white Amaziah for CTB, and First Fruits for more speed.  Isaiah and Daniel can't really be stopped with the defensive cards in existence right now, except for stalling cards like Failed Objective and Death of Unrighteous.

Great job Josh! Do you mind sharing what rule changes you are referring to? I have not been active this year and am curious what I may have missed. Do you mean the Rule about only rescuing those from opponents' LoB?

Thanks,
Kirk

1. You cannot have more dominants than lost souls
2. You cannot rescue lost souls in your land of bondage

It was also ruled that Samuel cannot search for additional copies of David/King Saul if you already have one in play.

Thanks Red Wing. I remembered the first two but didn't know about the Samuel one. Definitely slows those decks down a little bit. It is nice to see several decks taking top honors with actual defenses in them. Very refreshing.
