We're testing options. The initial idea was that it would be the player who has the most Lost Souls in territory (similar to who gets to choose the 1st turn), however we could also go by the player who reveals the most "star" cards or simply use a random mechanic (coin flip, die roll, etc) to choose.

I like the idea of basing it on the Lost Souls, having multiple different methods of determining which order players can activate abilities at the start of a game just sounds like it could get confusing quickly.

I guess I'll be the first to say that I'm not convinced this idea is a good one. Games already time out so often simply due to the sheer number of abilities outside of battle to carry out every turn, and now we're doing more?

I get that it's only your opening hand (barring potential cards that would trigger those abilities later- because those are almost guaranteed to come), but that just adds another luck factor which I thought we were steadily moving away from.

And another Moses? Do we need another Moses? C'mon ::)

I was hoping the "Star" mechanic (we need a more flavorful word for this: "Forshadow" that sounds better)...

I was hoping that when players Forshadowed it would require the card to be used not revealed. There's absolutely zero strategy with a reveal in this situation. It's more of a matter of "did I get more lucky than my opponent on my opening hand?" Requiring players to "use" the Forshadowed card seem much more exciting than just revealing - as this mechanic already holds great power (to do something before you take the first turn, and potentially before your opponent gets to go first).

This mechanic has been in CCGs for awhile. The cleanest way would be to add a phase to the game, "Pre-game Phase." Once opening hands and the first player is established (by LS count or random choice, etc) then in "turn order," players do their Pre-game Phases. Once each player has taken their Pre-game Phase, the first player will begin their first turn as normal.

If you do it as I suggested above, it would provide more strategy for determining if you want to play first or draw first.

Out of curiosity, are we looking to have one of these in every brigade? This brings TC negates to nearly half the brigades in the game, by my count.

I'm kind of torn. The very fact that they are so autoinclude makes me leery of having too many, but it's also not great to feel like you're forced into playing certain colors so that you have them available. although that'll always be there a bit for clay/gray...

I'd kind of like to see most brigade's gain access to a form of Gam's speech. I don't know that means every brigade will get one and it will be something we continue to grow over several sets. I could see leaving out orange and silver so that they have to include a human element to to use them. I like that they still work better within certain themes (Gam's works best on Peter, Kinsmen is recurable in Ruth, FoC works best in FS, this is strongest with Jonah... but he's blue!).

I like Fridays. Let's have another spoiler!

Hmmm...that LS intrigues me.  Not sure if it will make the cut in most of my decks, but it has potential depending on the current meta.

Could be useful in T2, although it protects from your own burial.

Maybe there is a new Dom in this set that targets Lost Souls?

It is but the wording is referring to all lost soul cards. So cards like death of unrighteous and SSS will not work.

I agree on wanting almost all brigades having this kind of placed enh. But with some brigade splashing the need for each brigade to have their own isn’t necessary.

And Jonah’s Anger can be recurred with Micah. 👍

I'd prefer to encourage the differences between brigades whenever possible, especially with mechanics that it feels like each brigade has to have.

For example, a TC Red warrior that lets their owner discard a Red weapon from territory to do the same efffect as Gam's Speech.  Or a magician that lets the owner discard their generic demon to get Gam's Speech effect.   Or a [EDITED BY R.O.S.E.S] that captures a good prophet in your territory.  (These would all be 1-time uses as well)

Captures a good prophet huh? Something smells fishy about that.

I would assume no , because the card begins as an enhancement.

This is correct. It’s the same with Roman Jailer or Saul/Paul.

Speaking of those classic Hero but not a Hero characters... it looks like the count on that type of card might more than double in PoC!
