I don't currently but I've been thinking about trying it (though I have several other LCGs I'm also working on, lol).

I've heard it's a good game... buts it's mediocre at best when compared with Fantasy Flights other LCGs. I mean it's pretty hard to beat Lotr LCG, Game of Thrones or Netrunner.

I play it! I really enjoy it! :) I currently own the core set, "Edge of Darkness," and half of the Hoth cycle. And oddly enough, the first pack in the new cycle of packs just came out this week!

For those that have Star Wars and LotR/Netrunner, is the gameplay sufficiently unique and different to justify Star Wars being its own separate game? I have the core sets for LotR/Netrunner and to each other those games are markedly different which is nice so that I have a choice when wanting to play a card game (especially as one is cooperative and the other is competitive). Which category does Star Wars fit into and does it have enough unique components to make it a different experience than the other 2?

Also, is the art for SW just screenshots from the movies or do they have actual art (like LotR) that they use for the cards?

I am curious why some one is -1'ing the posts of a Christian brother worried about purity? IS that not something we are encouraged to seek?

First, I think the question is a good one, especially for younger forum members (or families with younger children).

Second, it was a double-post.  It may be about that, not the content (seen that elsewhere on the board, with auto-downvotes).

It was me! I thought the post was absurd considering he "read extensively" about the Star Wars LCG. I should have been more conscious about what I was down voting. I meant to post why I did that but I obviously never got around to it lol... sorry for being passive aggressive over the interwebs :)

The Star Wars LCG is very similar to Netrunner in that it's a "dueling" game. Good vs Evil. Each side has different objectives and what not blah blah blah card game stuff. But both Good and Evil are more or less playing the same game mechanics just have different objectives (think Star Wars CCG by Decipher).

What makes Netrunner stand out to me is the fact the Runners and the Corps are TOTALLY different in how they play. I mean you've played Netrunner so you know what I mean here ;D I just really appreciate the uniqueness and diversity the game brings to the table... it isn't something you see every day in a card game.

The Netrunner and Star Wars LCGs are focused on distinct aspects of the play experience, which--mechanics aside--means the two games play completely differently. From the players I know who have played both, the consensus is that Netrunner is the "deeper" more strategic game. This starts with traditional card-by-card deck building and extends through game play where advancing your board state for the long term is essential to winning and becomes a major focus of each turn. Star Wars, on the other hand, is designed to be a tactical game. In support of this the deck building mechanic is goal-oriented and modular, and game play emphasizes the ability to think on your feet in the moment with wild swings possible from turn to turn.

At the moment I love the LCG model and love my LOTR LCG because of the team play but, also really enjoy the competitive pvp style game so can anyone please comment on the appropriateness of the artwork on these cards?

If by appropriateness, you mean the way characters are artistically drawn and designed... it's okay. Nothing too bad. I wouldn't be surprised if we got slave Leia from Return of the Jedi sometime in the future.

Thanks! If I buy the AP with Leia I would just throw her out so this goes on my list of games to get.
