I'd try to tempt you to pass over Risk for something like Twilight Struggle or War of the Ring but they cost like twice as much and you have to go online to find them at that price, if at all.Still, I think every home should have one copy of Risk, much like Scrabble and Yahtzee and Monopoly.
Well, if you have a copy, then people won't be getting you a copy for your birthday. No I do not want Seinfeldopoly or Avataropoly or Marvel Heroesopoly. Having a copy of the original is a defense against these incursions.I also have a copy of Solarquest in case anybody wants to play a game that's like Monopoly, except in space, and fun. But a good gaming host is ready to bring any desired game to the table, even one that destroys families.

But the "new" basic one, not the original. I actually just acquired the rebooted version of Risk and it's awesome.Though not everyone will like the replacement of army "men" with arrow pieces. But I have the LotR trilogy Risk for that.
The original original one (i.e., the one I had as a kid) had roman numerals (I, V, and X) instead of army men.
