Anyone played this? I have the original Dominion and the Seaside expansion. This game is amazing! Anyways, wondering if anyone else shares that feeling.

I saw schaefs set up at Ohio state tournament.  He has them all in one box with custom built dividers.  it is a wicked good set up.

I only have the original but I love to play this game every chance I get.

How many expansions are there Schaef? I know of Seaside, a couple of promos and Intrigue. Are there more?

Also, do you have sleeves for all your cards? My friend does and it's pretty legit.  :)

So what are everyone's favorite cards? Mine are:

Throne Room
Ghost Ship
Baazar
Treasury (anyone else think this is a little too good?)

Besides the base set, there are two full expansions - Intrigue and Seaside - a smaller expansion called Alchemy, and three promo cards: Black Market, Envoy and Stash.

At one point I had sleeves but a). my collection pretty quickly outgrew my present supply and b). I sacrificed sleeving for the ability to pack them all in a single box.  Besides, the cards are surprisingly sturdy and will hold up well even to repeated shuffling, as long as you don't abuse the cards.  Hopefully, your friend is using the custom Euro-sized sleeves available from Mayday games, which will fit these cards perfectly, as opposed to standard sleeves which I recall to be too wide, and I think not quite tall enough.

Treasury is a great card and can be very powerful, but the fact that it doesn't recycle for Victory cards is a good balancing element.  This is especially true if you are playing with extra and/or dual-type Victory cards like Gardens or Nobles.  I tend to like the dual-type cards so I end up discarding my Treasury's fairly often.

Vineyard and Bridge are two of my favorite cards at the moment, though I also have a soft spot for Native Village, and I love pretty much all the dual-type and duration (orange) cards.  Combining Outpost with Tactician is a fun play, and I'm kind of a sucker for trashing my deck as well (Chapel, Trading Post, Mine).

Hands down... chapel.
I'm also quite particular to remodel and minion
Gates of Hell is by far the best card in the game.  No questions asked.

Hopefully you buy some other cards too, so that you have something to do with all those extra actions.

The "game snobs" on Board Game Geek groan about a phenomenon they call the "Village Idiot" strategy, where the player buys like 6 Villages, and their turn goes something like, Village, draw, Village, draw, Village, draw, Village, draw, oh, now I have five actions left, but no more cards to play and only three coins in my hand... I guess I'll buy another Village!

Haha! That's pretty funny. Yeah I guess the victory part does make it balanced... idk I haven't yet lost when I'd get that card out.

I forgot about Tactician! That's my top favorite card. I once bought 2 Provinces in one turn because of how many other cards I got (throne room with armory room or whatever the card is where you get 4 cards and 1 buy). I bought 2 provinces and a gold. :D

How good is the smaller expansion? As good as seaside?

Tactician + Throne Room + Council Room.  Very nice.

Alchemy's all right, but it's not for everybody.  For starters, it has kind of a wizardy, potiony, conjury theme so not everybody will find it appropriate.  Also, it's action-heavy (almost every card in the set grants at least one extra action) so while people like hi123 who like to play 80 billion cards in a turn might like them, the people who prefer the quick-and-dirty turns might not like it as much.

I compare it to Intrigue vs. Seaside.  Intrigue has more interaction (read: attacking cards), and Seaside has those cool extra-turn cards and a lot of different ways to stockpile money.  I like them both but I like Seaside a lot better.  Similarly, I think the cards in Alchemy are fun and add variety, but having played Prosperity in development, I am looking forward to those cards A LOT more.  You will really like some of the cards in that set!

Dominion is my favorite game, and will probably be even higher than Redemption after Prosperity comes out, depending on how good Disciples is.

My favorite card is probably Conspirator. I love Conspirator decks.

Oh so there's a new set coming out Schaef? That sounds awesome. Yeah I agree that seaside is a lot better, which is why I bought that over Intrigue. Attacking cards ARE fun, but I get my kicks out of ghost ship, sea hag, and others and I do alright.

Yes, it was those three cards. It was pretty awesome.

Conspirator decks are quite boring... that's just the village idiot strat boosted up by a card that gives you two coin.  I like games where there is a choice required with not only what to buy, but what to play.
Gates of Hell is by far the best card in the game.  No questions asked.

Village Idiot doesn't give you coin, which is a HUGE distinction.

If I play Village, Village, Village, Village and have four coin, I can only buy something worth four coin.

If I play Village, Village, Conspirator, Conspirator and have four coin, that's a Province.

If you're one of those guys who hates 80 cards played per turn, I guess I can see that.

I tend to mix Conspirator in with some other cards for some intriguing results.

I love Throne Room + Conspirator. And I jump for joy* whenever I see Ironworks and Conspirator in the same setup, especially when Pawn or Great Hall or some other cheap + 1 Card, + 1 Action card is in play. It's only happened a few times, but I'm apparently the only one in my family who knows how to utilize this combo, because I always win by a mile in those games.

Don't get me wrong, my favorite way to win is to chapel my whole deck, buy a couple golds and drawing cards and draw through my deck every turn from then on (preferably with something like laboratory)

+1  With Chapel + Lab, I am well nigh invulnerable.
